Beatrice
received a $510 initial payment.
"After receiving the first transfer, I spent the first 35000KES on buying livestock: 20000KES on a heifer and the other 15000KES on an ox. I also paid 15000KES towards school fees for my two children in are currently in secondary school and the remaining amount on clothing for the younger kids, foodstuff, and other household goods. The larger portion spent on the livestock was really worth it as we had been hoping to stop the huge expense on milk. By buying a heifer we believe that we will soon be enjoying our production and supply of milk from our own livestock."

Winny
received a $510 initial payment.
"Upon receiving the transfer, we planned to spend a larger portion of it on at least three livestock. This projection never came true for me since the prices of livestock both in our village and also in the nearby market skyrocketed that I only managed to obtain two good breeds at 52,000KES. I could not afford to lose this chance of ensuring that we have a cow in our field since we needed both milk for our own consumption and also to earn us income whenever I sell milk to the neighborhood as one of them is on the verge of calving down in a month's period. I used the remaining amount on buying enough foodstuff for my household. "

Jackline
received a $510 initial payment.
"With the many changes that have come to existence in my household after receiving the first transfer, the biggest difference in my daily life is the availability of enough foodstuffs and the consistent supply of milk from the cow I bought. In the past, this could only happen after a long day toil in casual labor to earn some money to buy them. It is one pleasurable time for me to see things turning out the way I had always wished for and I am indeed grateful that I am part of this great change."

"The biggest hardship currently is our poor health together with my children.I frequently suffer from Malaria and other unknown blisters on my skin at times. This affects how I look after the children and in the end, they suffer from hunger since am hospitalized a lot.
This has also trickled down to my children who also get sick often and this gives me additional financial problems as I am forced to seek funds to get the children to the nearest health centre and care for them."

"My journey to financial freedom started one year ago when I landed a contractual job at one of the road construction firm. The dream was short lived when my contract ended without an extension. Since then, I have been yearning to have a source of income of my own. Receiving this money means that I will invest in poultry project at a cost sh 40,000 shillings. I will then buy an incubator for 30,000 and start brooding. In the long run I see my freedom to financial freedom resuming. This is from the sale of their products."
