"My son is yet to join form 3 next term. However, his stay in school has never been straight. My son is frequently sent out of school. Things have worsened since last year when my husband lost his job due to the coronavirus pandemic. This has put us in debts, to the extent that shylocks have been coming to our house to reposes some of our belongings in bid to repay their loans. Sometimes my husband is forced to hide whenever creditors come to check on him following a line of numerous received calls. This has put me and my husband in shame and we have totally lost respect in the eyes of our community. So, receiving this money means a continuity in education to my son. I will be able to clear his fee balance of 26000 Kenya shilling and also, prepay for the next year of his secondary study at least to its completion."

"Receiving this money means a sense of belonging to my household. This is because I plan to use my first transfer to buy 4 ingenious cows to produce milk and for my consumption and to sell the surplus to earn an income. I will also buy used $200 of my second transfer to buy 6 goats which will act as a long-term investment project to my family. I will spend the rest amount on the basic need of my family like buying food."

"Receiving this money means I will build a house which can accommodate us, I have a family of 5 and live in one singled room, this really embarrassed me and doesn't allow me for my privacy with my children. I am used to buy food on daily basis including milk which is quite expensive to me my wife doesn't work and all that depends on me.
I plan to use 70 dollars to build my house and equip with the furnitures and the beddings. The remaining balance I will start dairy farming which will enable me sell the milk and safe the rest."

"The biggest hardship we have faced as a family is the rampant death of my livestock. This has led to a dramatic decline in our wealth. To be specific, every time we acquire a cow it would take a short while before becoming ill and die despite our efforts of seeking the services of a vet. This has made us feel that there could be some dark forces working against us. Also, we are not motivated to make any further investments in the livestock."

"Unemployment is the biggest hardship I have ever faced in my life. To provide for my family of seven children, I need employment to earn an income. For the past five years, I have tried to search for any employment slot but luck has not been on my side. As a family, we are forced to only depend on my husband, which is challenging because my husband's salary cannot sustain us."
