"I spent part of my first transfer on buying building materials such as iron sheets, nails, threads, and building poles. I opted to buy all these with an intention of constructing a modern house because the previous one was a tradtionsl hut with a leaky roof. Also, I bought livestock which includes four goats at a total of KES 16000. These will now be the living assets that I will lean on in case of any financial constraints. With the remaining amount of money, I bought enough foodstuff got the family"

"The biggest hardship has been a lack of finances. I'm a casual laborer earning at most Ksh 2400 per month. This can barely meet the needs of my family. It goes to food and other basic needs leaving me with nothing to cater for other needs."

"I am very happy to be one of the beneficiaries of this program. There are many organisations that come with different interventions in our area but none of them will make a household tangible difference like Give Directly. Earning money in this village is hard as almost the whole village relies on farming and sell the surplus to make some money. As you can see my house is not in good shape just like the other villagers, am now thinking of building a better house to accomodate my family and have some storage space for my crops after harvesting. This money will enable us to be having quality sleep and healthy bodies as we shall buy some good beddings, mattress as well as winter clothes for all of us. We are extremely happy and our lives will be forever changed."

"It's been in my plans to buy two dairy cows, that will help feed my young family and also as a source of income, selling surplus milk produced. Being subsistence farmers, crops cannot be depended on since we don't produce much hence the dairy cows will come in handy being an alternative source of income. This will cost me ksh 60000. For the remaining amount, I plan to build a bigger house that will act as a sitting room and bedrooms. I will convert the current sitting room to be the kitchen. The current kitchen is quite small and it floods inside during rainy seasons making it not conducive for my family."
