How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am hopeful that in months to come I would have harvested the beans I planted, which would mean that I would be able to sell and make a profit out of it. I used to use kerosene as a lamp before, today this is a story of the past because I bought a solar lamp which is cost-effective, My life is different because I managed to accomplish so much within a short time.I am so grateful for the support that brought so much joy and happiness in our lives.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly is enhancing people's lives through eradicating poverty, we were all treated with respect regardless of our social or economical status, we are also thankful that we are knowledgeable of what the project entails and where the transfer came from. So far I don't see anything that is not done well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am a farmer and a businesswoman, where I sell milk daily from the farm produce. I have 3 dairy cow that I depend on them in earning an income, therefore when I received my transfer I decided to buy one more dairy cow so that I can increase milk production and with that, the returns too will increase hence I used KES20,000, I then used KES 15,000 in planting beans in a 2-acre piece land, lastly, I bought a solar lamp worth 16,000. I am so happy that I was able to accomplish so much within a short period.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was at home enjoying a cup of tea when I heard of a Message alert, on checking, it was a Mpesa message showing that I had received a sum of KES 55,000 from GiveDirectly, I was so grateful and happy, I immediately informed my husband who was also delighted.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference is that I had plans of buying a dairy cow for our dairy consumption but I could not afford it because of my little income, I have realised my dream and ambition thanks to the transfer, I can save money that I was using on fuel daily for lighting because of the solar lights, thanks for the support because it has improved my living standards.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received my transfer I knew that this was my opportunity to buy a dairy cow that I have been longing for, I am a farmer and casual labour, I cannot afford to buy a cow with my little income which we all depend on, therefore the transfer made it easier for me, I also bought a solar light for lighting because we don't have electricity in our village.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Milk production and farming has been my major source of income. I have 3 dairy cows that give me approximately 9 - 10 litres of milk everyday. I normally sell this milk at KES 30 per litre and I use the proceeds to buy seedlings and seeds to farm. Receiving this money therefore is another opportunity for me to increase my milk production by approximately 6 -8 litres of milk. I will therefore buy 2 dairy cows with my transfer.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning because I have woke up to a new day healthy and strong to do my daily duties such as milking cows in the morning and other household chores during the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of enough fiances is my biggest challenge at the moment. Even though I get approximately 300 shillings daily on milk, this amount is not enough to cater for our basic needs. I am sometimes forced to hire out a piece of my land to someone else so that I can have some finances.
