received a $436 second payment.
"I spent part of my second transfer on paying fees of $50 for my son who is pursuing an electrical course. I received the money at the right time because he would still be at home due to the arrears. I am so thankful that he will be graduating in two months. Later on, I bought a bed and a mattress for a total of $90. I have been sleeping on small traditional beds for all those years. I have however been experiencing unending pains, especially in my spinal cord. This could equally hinder me from doing my daily chores. I now feel glad for finally getting a permanent solution. I no longer complain about the pains like before which I will forever be grateful for. To add to that, I bought a new modern metal door to fix on my house which cost almost $70. The initial one had worn out and I felt there was a need to replace it for our safety purposes. With the remaining amount of money, I purchased food for my family of nine and other household needs."

"I been finding it very difficult in paying my house rent and to find food for my kids and I. Therefore, uponreceiving this grant I will use huge portion of the transfer to build a comfortable dwelling place of my own. The remaining portion of the money will be spent on food because there are some food that I really want to eat but do not have the money to purchase that kind of food."

Kanze
received a $452 second payment.
"I spent $200 of my second transfer on paying fees for my son who recently joined high school. It has been a tough time for me because I solely depended on the charcoal business which was not that lucrative. Additionally being a widow of three, it has never been easy to put food on the table and pay fees on time. The fact that I have now been able to clear the fees for the whole academic year has brought so much joy into my life. Additionally, a solar panel worth $300. Back in the day, I was using candles and was sometimes forced to stay in the dark since I could not afford to purchase them at my own cost. This affected my children's performance because they could barely study at night. This has been frustrating me as a parent for so long and I never thought that it would come to an end. We now feel relieved as a family courtesy of GiveDirectly. With the remaining amount of money, I have been buying food for my family which took us almost one week."
