"We had come to a dead end as a community owing to adverse weather changes we have been experiencing for the past two years. It was hard for me to provide food and other needs for my family. We were only able to live day by day because of the severity of our poverty and the lack of employment. However, the entry of GiveDirectly in our village meant a lot to us. It does well in reducing the poverty level by providing unconditional cash transfers. As a result, there is an improvement in our way of life. Some children have re-enrolled to school as a result of the transfer. Some people who had goals they could not achieve have embarked on that. So far there is nothing GiveDiirectly does not do well."

"Depending on a rented motorbike can be the most difficult thing that one can face. This is because, with the current economy, it is hard to raise at least $3 a day without struggling. At times, it would leave me to go home empty-handed. I am married and blessed with two children. Upon receiving my second transfer, I opted to top up $5 from the saving that I had from the initial transfer. This made it to $600 which enabled me to acquire a second-hand motorbike. I am so happy that finally; I was able to realise this dream within a short period. This was not possible before because what I earned was only enough to cater for our basic needs."

"I am a businesswoman, married and blessed with four children. My husband does casual jobs that come his way to make ends meet. Upon receiving our second transfer, my husband and I agreed on using the entire amount of $550 of our second transfer in boosting our business, and then afterwards using the profit in buying other households item. This is because we wanted to take advantage of this season when most of the villagers had cash flow. We knew that we had a target market. This was not easy before because we did not have money to stock up our shop because of financial constraints. Our lives have been uplifted greatly, thus we are grateful."

It has uplifted my life tremendously because I was able to achieve my dream of buying a dairy cow which would earn us extra income. Throughout my interaction with the program, I did not experience any loophole."
