"This year, my four-year-old daughter Nuru will begin school. She is my firstborn, and I want to give her everything. I'm a single mom who currently resides with my mother. My source of income is tailoring, but because of the chest issues I have, I am unable to work at it throughout the day, and as a result, I do not earn much money from it. I plan to start raising chickens and goats in order to supplement our household income and pay for school fees. They are quick to breed, can survive the drought we are experiencing, and are simple to manage. In the future, I intend to sell some of them to generate cash for our expenses"

"My first priority has always been figuring out how to build a new, better house. The existing one is in poor shape; more of the wall and the roof have collapsed. My spouse and I are both elderly, therefore we were unable to accomplish anything to raise money for a new room's construction. When we call the children who have moved to the town for the purpose of financial support, they always say they have no income. We therefore relied on burning charcoal for sale, but as we get older, we can no longer handle the demanding task. I told my wife to cease burning charcoal the moment we started getting the transfers, and we now only enjoy the monthly stipend. Since then, we have been utilizing part of the money to buy food and part to buy building supplies. We have so far raised ten iron sheet pieces, but we still need eighteen more to raise the necessary number. As long as we get all the monthly transfers, we aim to have a dream house by the end of the year"

"For the last one year, I have been supplying milk in the school that my children are in to reduce school debt, we used to supply about 20 litres of milk to school every day and in return, the school debt is reduced. Now that I have cleared the debt, I will be using the money from the milk we sell to buy a piece of land to start venturing into food farming or chicken farming. By the end of another year, I hope to have made enough money and finally buy the land we want."

"Instead of Give Directly considering to enrol those with mobiles only, they gave us an option of getting the phone and paying for it later with the transfer which was really good because even the most vulnerable person who could not afford it by all means was not left out, and the best part of it is, we get to own the phone even after the program ends."

"With the second transfer, I used ksh 40000 to complete payment for a piece of land I started paying for with the first transfer , I planted about half an acre of maize in that space and it is that is doing fairly well given that we have experienced frequent droughts, and now we are hoping to have enough food for the family for a number of months, food security at home will help us focus on other things and plan well."

"Given that we all have different needs, it was really good that Give Directly decided to give us the money individually and unconditionally. This created a lot of financial responsibility among families and we got a chance to deal with our needs and situations in different ways."
