"GiveDirectly is doing well for me by giving me money to transfor my lives in a positive way, right now I'm able to build my house though the help of Give Directly, and support my kids in school and to have a better life because i want to live in a zinc house, all my life i have been living in poverty i could not hardly feed my family, But right now I'm able to start my own businesses to help myself, even if GiveDirectly is no more that i will not suffer with my family anymore, GiveDirectly hasn't done nothing bad to us. Thank you to the GiveDirectly family let God bless them."

"I am a business man, 35. I bake cakes for sale and that sustains me with my family of 6. What has been the biggest challenge lately is the high cost of baking inputs such as flour, oil and firewood. Before the pandemic came, I used to make a profit of $10 daily. That's is after paying costs of production including workers. Currently I can only manage a meagre $4 a day. This has discouraged me, I even contemplated closing it. It has also forced me to reduce the number of workers. Initially before the pandemic, I used to have 2 workers, now it's only one. The cost of living has gone up and even people cannot afford to buy more now. This is compared to pre-pandemic times. The low business performance has hindered my ability to even do fencing on my compound."

"For the longest time, I have been working as a bus driver and earnings daily commissions of between $3 to $5. These commissions have never been enough to sustain my family needs and it has been a struggle paying school fees and providing for a family of three ( wife and two children) since I am the sole provider. Although I wanted to buy my own motorbike to operate a taxi business with, I have never been able to raise the capital. When I was enrolled in the program, I saw it a good opportunity to go after my dreams. I combined both my first and second transfer and added $200 from my savings and bought a motorbike worth $1300. For the last few months that I have been self employed, I have been an average monthly income of $200. With this money, I have been able to provide for my family without much strain like before."

"Living in a semi- arid area has been a greatest challenge. We solely rely of livestock and fruit farming to earn a living but lack of rains has made particularly fruits not to do well. We spend $3 each day in purchasing water for both home consumption and goats. I find it very expensive since from the $ 300 I earn monthly, $ 9 goes into water expenses. Life would be different if water was readily available in this place."

"I completed my high school education two years ago but unfortunately could not proceed to further my education due to a lack of school fees. I then resorted to doing casual jobs and raising chickens to earn a living and save up for my college fees. I have only saved a quarter of what I need to join the school because casual jobs are unreliable. This affects my plans because it will take me another two years to be able to get the $ 600 required to start pursuing a course in mines and exploration. If I had enough money I would have gone back to school as soon as possible, therefore, financial constraints is the biggest challenge."
