"My husband and I both work as casual workers and rely on the sale of charcoal for our income. Our daily income is less than $3, so we barely make ends meet. We struggle to cover our children's primary school tuition with such a meager sum. My main objective for the entire year is to use a significant portion of the funds from the transfers to pay for my children's tuition. By preventing them from quitting school, this will allow my kids to fully focus on their education. I'm also interested in raising livestock. Four goats that I currently own were purchased with funds from the transfers. The reason I want to buy more this year is so that I can sell the extra goats in case of an emergency and use the proceeds to help myself."

"After receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly, the living standards in every household in the village improved significantly. I am grateful that they provided us with an equal amount and the freedom to spend it as we saw fit in our households. Unlike material goods, monetary assistance allowed us to make informed spending decisions that had a direct impact on our daily lives. I have nothing to complain about after the entire process because GiveDirectly kept all of its promises."

"GiveDirectly's work and the support we received were so helpful in numerous ways that most families are currently living a better life. Many constructed new houses and others cleared their children's school fees after receiving the money. They did everything well, and I wish the program would be back to the village after completing the other they are yet to finish. I saw nothing wrong with the entire process and am thankful I was part of the beneficiaries."

"My one child currently in secondary school has been struggling to catch up with the rest of the classmates since he has frequently been coming home with the hope of getting school fees. The teacher has been sending him home almost every week and I have been unfortunate as a family that I have never been able to raise enough money to clear the school fees. On receiving this transfer, I could think of nothing else but to clear a debt of KES15000 first. This has given him ample time and hope of regaining his original top position in his performance. We had been living in a mud-walled house with my family that was hard to maintain as I had to keep filling the crevices that would otherwise have let insects and cold breezes on the rainy seasons. The roof was already old also and could not have lasted much longer if I had not received the transfer. I was glad to confirm the receipt as we had been planning to initiate the construction of a better house with wooden walls and new iron sheets. It costed me KES 30000 to see the house completed. I also spent KES 10000 on obtaining foodstuff and other household utilities that were lacking."

"I was glad to receive the most recent transfer because it relieved me of the difficult task of feeding my family. Drought had really taken a toll on us and we had nothing left in the house to eat. I went to the market and bought maize and other food stuff worth KES 4000. I was happy that this would last us for almost a month with my family. I invested KES 44000 into buying two dairy cows and one goat. With the cows now lactating, I have been saving in bits and hope the two will increase income from the sale of milk, thus more savings. I later spent the remaining amount on foodstuff for my family and also bought new pairs of clothes, shoes and beddings for my one kid and myself. I am grateful for the support that has transformed my household greatly."

"I used the second transfer to clear my college school fees arrears and I had paid half of the balance with the first transfer already so this was not much of a hustle for me. Having have depended on my parents to provide everything for my young siblings and I, it has been so hard for them since they have no job neither any properties/assets to sell to provide for us. Give Directly transfers was a boost for us now that I only have to pay very little to be done with school."
