"Receiving this money means I am going to be able to buy cement, and windows to improve my house, culturally my grandchildren cannot sleep together with their parents who are still active, this offers them humble room to study and sleep without effects of harsh leaking house like the one I just moved out of. The remaining of this cash transfer I will donate to son to help him pay fees to my grandchildren."

"My biggest hardship has been inability to raise enough money to pay fees and feed my children. You find that anytime I got money to invest in farming I ended up paying school fees with it leaving my family with no money to buy food, or whenever I got good yield in the farms, I ended up selling them to get money for school fees."

"Paying for school fees for my children has been an uphill task for me. I used to pay 6000 shillings to educate my children in primary school and when my daughter joined secondary school, I had to pay 8000 shillings per term towards her education alone. This amount strained the little resources I had and as a result, they occasionally had to be sent home because I could not raise the amount. I rely on farming to pay for their fees and lately, the rains have failed. "

"I have always struggled educating my children due to lack of money. I will be thrilled to receive this cash as I will use half of the transfer to offset the fee balance for this year and the rest to start a poultry business so as to provide a stable income to cater for my children's education as from next year. "I have always dreamt of having my own oxen and an ox plough. This is because they make ploughing easier on my two acre farm. Ploughing with a hoe is tiresome and takes more time. However with the oxen I can plough the whole farm in less time and am also able to get more yield. I will also save myself the extra cost of having to hire other people's oxen to plough my farm."

"As a family we are dependent on farming and my husband's job as a cattle herder in the nearby village called Guruguru. However, both are not enough to sustain us. My husband earns a salary of four thousand Kenya shillings every month which is not enough for food, education and other basic needs of my family. Farming too has not been fruitful due to the poor rains experienced in the area."

"The inability to handle medical needs of my family members that come as emergency remains my biggest worry.Afew months ago my wife had to under go a medical operation to deliver and that was very costly. This forced me to seek help from relatives and friends who became so unreliable and I felt exposed.I may not want to go through the same but the feeling of being exposed haunts me to date."
