Kauchi
received a $542 initial payment.
"I wouldn't say there is any biggest difference in my daily life but I believe in future after the cows will have given birth I won't be budgeting for milk thus I'll be able to save the money that I'm currently spending on milk."

Jane
received a $22 twelfth payment.
"In the next six months, I want to invest more in my sardines business. I would not only sell in the nearby markets but also sell in bigger markets because I will be able to maximise on the profit. The profits will help me in paying school fees, clothing and feeding my family and finally take me into a higher standard in life. I would not want to go back to where GD found me. As they have shown me the way, I would want to keep working hard and give the best to my family."

Katana
received a $542 initial payment.
"I was at work when I first received the message. I heard a message come in my phone and and when I checked the message, it was the money coming in. I was very happy and I immediately thanked God, and I confirmed that truly the transfers were real. I then withdrew the money and I have kept the money in my house since then. I have been looking for a shop, but I never found one that I would afford with the transfers. I bought cows instead today, with the hope that I will resell them and open up a shop in future."

Karisa
received a $542 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is the peace and happiness I have because I own livestock. With the livestock, I believe I won't be spending money on milk because after the cows have given birth I'll be able to get enough milk for family consumption. In addition to that, I consider the livestock to be an asset because in the future I can sell the calf in order to raise money for meeting other family needs."

"Since I started receiving these transfers I have seen the importance of savings and this has motivated me to join a merry go round where we are ten members so I expect in the next six months to have bought building materials which I will use to build my dream kitchen."

"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have saved some amount to money to rent a piece of land and do horticulture farming. After harvesting, I will be able to sell part of my produce to get an income to pay school fees for my children who are joining college and even to meet other basic needs for the family."

Monicah
received a $523 second payment.
"Before GiveDirectly visited our village, I lived in a small leaky house that anytime it rained even at night, we would wake up and move to a corner. The small house also doubled as kitchen and it made my children to endure difficult times doing their studies because we always used firewood that emit a lot of smoke. It is the transfer I received that I used to settle my daughters high school fees and saved some which I later used in admitting my son in form one. Joining form one came with a lot of responsibilities and I believe that without the cash transfer that I received my son would have not joined high school because her sisters fees had already overwhelmed us. It is the education of these children that we believe once they complete and get employed shall change our fortune."

Elias
received a $542 initial payment.
"I was at home on that day at around 11:00 AM when I heard a message come into my phone. I checked the message and it was the transfers. I was so happy and filled with joy and I informed my wife of the news. I also knew there and then that I would finally achieve my goals of expanding my business and opening up a new one. I immediately went to Mariakani town to withdraw this cash."

Nicholas
received a $22 twelfth payment.
"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have bought a water tank for storing clean water for domestic use. I walk for a long distance to look for clean water for drinking during the dry seasons which is so tedious and time-consuming."

Sharon
received a $542 initial payment.
"Since I received my transfers, my daily life has changed as I am nowadays busy in my shop. I have started receiving many customers due to the diversity of things I sell and this has really made my profit level to rise unlike before when I had few customers due to lack of so many items."
