"I live in a mud house in which it's floor is earthen. My wife and I are quite old. Having her to smear the floor everytime is quite hectic with this old age. We end up living in a dusty room as the floor is rarely smeared. This exposes me to discomfort and could even cause chest problems. Receiving this money means that I am able to buy some bags of cement and sand to plaster the floor. It will greatly improve my living conditions and make it easy to clean. I will live in a healthy and a nice environment as I will refurbish and furnish the house in addition to plastering. It also means that I am able to buy dairy cow. This will be a source of income as I sell milk to meet my daily needs."

"I current live in a two room house that is still under construction. I went in before completing its construction since I had no more money to use. I depend on my sons after a goat broke my hand sometimes back hence can not do casual jobs to earn. I engage in my small garden that I only get vegetable for my family consumption. It has been hard asking for more help from my sons since they also have families to attend to. Receiving this money means that I will be able to renovate and complete my house also will buy a cow to help in more income from milk sales."

I will be able to help vulnerable people in our society by providing legal aid. There have been many challenges facing people in Mathare like land grabbing and illegal arrest from police officers which I will be able to assist and defend them as a way of giving back to the society."

"I spent most of my life struggling to give the best in terms of education to my children. With the little income that we got, we had to struggle a lot to get enough money to enable them stay in school. We sold almost all the household property leaving us with absolutely nothing. Although we managed to pay their school fees, the expenses made on them is still felt up to date."

"On my usual day I wake up early in the morning, pray then start by cleaning the house, conducting all house chores and ensuring my child is clean and fed. Then I take the clothes I am to sell and go to work. Before starting work, I take my child to my sister in -law's house so that she can help me take care of her as I go to work. Normally I hawk the clothes I have depending with the price market, the clothes range from female clothes to children clothes. I walk around the whole day just to make sure I sell some clothes before going home. Then I go back home in the evening, prepare food then go to sleep and wait for the next day. During my free time I help out at Good Samaritan children's home or visit my aunt in Eastleigh."

"Since I am the first born in our family, most decisions are always made with my approval. They have always looked unto me even if am married elsewhere. When my mother fell sick, I recommended the hospital in she was taken for treatment. When she was almost being discharged, my family were waiting for me on how we will raise finances to help pay the bills. I was so stranded because I did not know where to get or borrow 30000KES to settle the hospital bills. My daily income from my small business could not even satisfactory provide for my family. My siblings' income could not get even quarter of the total amount required. The only option we had was to sell part of our livestock to raise the money. Right now, I feel so very proud that we did not sell anything to raise the money for paying the hospital bills. I used part of my transfer to settle the bills. My mother is doing very well even though she is not fully healed but she is way better than how she was earlier. I thank God for Give Directly."
