"My life has changed in many different ways. I now have a new house for the family, I have an additional dairy cow which is producing more milk that is enough to feed the family and selling the surplus to meet other household needs. I have also been able to put more land under cultivation unlike before when I relied entirely on human labour to till and prepare my land. I am looking forward to having more farm produce now and in the coming days. The produce from my farm shall be of great help to us as a family as it means we shall have more food for the family while we sell the surplus to meet other basic household needs. Furthermore, my children are no longer sent home for school fees like they were done before we got the transfers."

"Once the farming season is done, I will shift my attention to clearing the loans that I took to plaster my house. This is because I want to clear the loan as fast as possible so that I can have enough time to save the rest of the transfers before it's over for a chance to start my own business that will sustain me later on."

"I expect my life to have a changed in the next six months in that I would have bought a dairy cow. This dairy cow will give at least KES 200 as an income through the sale of milk production. I will achieve this through the savings I have in our table banking and the income I get from my small business selling boiled eggs."

"My biggest hardship is lack of finances to build myself a home and education for my children. All my four children never completed primary school and are now hustling casual jobs in towns to make ends meet. The house that I own is too small and whenever my sons are around I am forced to borrow shelter from my neighbors because sharing space with my sons is considered taboo in our culture. "

"My life has improved in that, I have acquired household items like beddings and utensils which were very old prior to receiving these money. Secondly, I have been able to renovate my house and started the Construction of another house for my children. Lastly, I live a happy life because I paid off my land mortgage which stressed me for a very long time. Before I received thses transfers, My house was ugly because it wasn't plastered and the floor was dusty causing caugh amongst us. We also used to sleep on very old beddings and I had very few utensils."

"My life is different now in that, I have built a house within a shortest period of time with GiveDirectly's transfers. Secondly, I'm able to feed my family using the money I received from GiveDirectly. Prior to receiving these transfers, I used to sleep in a small house with my children which wasn't enough for us. I was also faced with a challange of famine since there wasn't enough money to buy food."

"My life is now different in that, I own an ox and renovated my old house. Before, I used to sleep in an incomplete house and it wasn't convinient enough. In addition, we used to wait for the owners of the oxen to finish ploughing before our acres would be ploughed. This in turn led to poor yields hence food shortage."

"My life has improved in that, I feed, sleep and treat myself in a far better manner. This is because I didn't have a source of income that could enable to meet all these basic needs. In addition, I bought an ox that together with the one I already had will help me plough my farm land in time. In the past, I used to hire people's oxen that would be given to me towards the end of the planting season hence this led to poor harvest."
