"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I am planning to build a big house. This is because currently we are living in a small house which cannot accommodate all my family members. When my children come for holiday from school , they sleep in my mother-in -law's kitchen and this worries me a lot as they can be attacked on their way when they are going to sleep. During this time, I will have harvested the maize and beans in my farm , sell them and use the money to buy iron sheets and timber which I will use in building a house for them."

"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will be owning a shop. This will earn more income and I will be able save more money to pay school fees for my daughter who will be joining secondary school next year. I will also be selling more milk to a cooling plant and thus will be getting a lot of money to buy more stock for my shop. This will therefore bring more income."

"I spent my transfers to clear my high school arrears so I could obtain my high school certificate. I completed high school in the year 2017 but my leaving certificate was retained due to a fee balance of 10000 KES. I was orphaned at a young age and the only sibling I have left is my elder brother whom I have lived with here in Mathare, almost all my life. I used to do casual jobs to pay my school fees, with some help also from my brother. I have always dreamt of going to college to study Electrical Engineering, but my high school certificate was retained in school. I was happy when I received my transfers as I knew I would finally get my certificate. I also spent the transfers to pay a debt of 5000 KES that I owed my elder brother."

"I spent part of my transfers to open up a green grocer business and a clothes and shoe business. I partnered with a group member of mine from my youth group, Impression Youth, to open up these two businesses. We opened up these businesses last month when we both received our second transfers. We both contributed funds and opened up a green grocer shop in Joska-Kamulu area in Nairobi county, and also secured a spot in the Central Business District in Nairobi, where we hawk shoes and clothes in the evening. We are both either at the green grocer shop or hawking the products in town at any particular time, we exchange shifts in these two businesses. We opened up these businesses in order to invest in a profitable venture that can assure us of a sustainable income. So far, these businesses are doing well. I am truly grateful to Give Directly. I also spent part of the transfers to purchase some household items in my house such as a complete gas cylinder."
