Tabitha
received a $478 third payment.
"I spent the last transfer on buying livestock that I have always wanted to rear. I am rearing the livestock so that I can secure my future and that of my children as I can sell them and get money during financial constraints. Now I have something to hope of providing for my children without straining much. I also registered my children in school. I used part of the transfer to pay for their school fees, buy stationery and school uniforms for my children. I also bought some maize for family consumption as we had run out of our previous harvest."

Japhet
received a $50 fourth payment.
"The biggest difference is that currently, I have savings and my future is partly secured given that part of the money that I receive on a monthly basis goes to my savings. Before I did have any savings and my future was not guaranteed."

Benter
received a $527 second payment.
"Before I began to receive my transfers, I was living in a small and leaky house which I always felt uncomfortable to stay in during rainy seasons. However, when I received my transfers, I was able to buy a piece of land and iron sheets which I used to build a new spacious house. The house that I currently live in is better and more comfortable than the one I had at first. As a matter of facts, it can accommodate all my family members comfortably. GiveDirectly has indeed impacted my life positively."

"When I received the recent transfers, I started a second-hand clothes business. This has been my dream but I had lacked resources to start it up. With the business, I am able to generate income for use at home and also to meet other bills accrued from my business."

Caroline
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I shall have saved enough money which will necessitate the cementing of my mud house. With the cemented house I will be able to stay in a clean environment and save up money which I incur to maintain it after every three months on other developmental projects."

Eunice
received a $527 second payment.
"There is a difference in my life because for one my husband used a portion of this amount to pay dowry. He later passed on after the second transfers were sent, so had it been that he had not paid the dowry, traditionally I would not have been allowed to bury him because he could not be recognized as my legally married husband."

Sofia
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"I expect my life to have changed in the next six months. I will have moved to my own home that I just built. I have been living on my parent's farm and was facing lots of problems from my brothers who didn't want me to stay at home as a single mother."

Jared
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"As soon as I am done with the plastering of my new house, I will start saving these transfers so that I can install electricity in my house. The Government did quite well to bring down the installation charges to an affordable rate and I want to take advantage of it while it lasts. Other than just using the electricity for personal benefits, I will also make a business out of it by charging my neighbours' phones at a fee for an extra source of income."
