Kennedy
received a $253 second payment.
"My wife has been constantly reminding me about the dowry payments as she is also getting a lot of pressure from her parents who want the ceremony performed before the end of the year. This has been causing a lot of arguments between us because I feel that she does not understand that I also want it done as much as she does but not able to do so due to financial difficulties. Now that I have the money for the dowry payment, I expect to have more peace in my house in future."

Otieno
received a $23 twelfth payment.
"I have been focusing most of my previous transfers on my paying my school fees because it is the biggest need I have at the moment. Because of this, I have never had an opportunity to buy other personal items that I have always desired to have such as proper clothes and shoes. In the next six months, I will have cleared my fees for the year and will have the freedom to spend my transfers on such items. This will change my life because I will no longer rely on my mother or worry about taking on casual jobs to earn money for such items."

Elizabeth
received a $253 second payment.
"I do not expect my life to change in the next six months because right now after completion of the transfer, I depend only on casual jobs. This is only enough to cater for food and a few basic needs. I feel that I will still be the same."

"Unable to get financial support for my secondary education caused a lot of anguish and frustration in my life. My father whom we solely depended on died and the thought of living without him was unimaginable. We were forced to abandon our dreams of attaining higher levels of education. The only thing my mother was able to provide was the food of which it was barely enough for the six of us. Life situations forced everyone to fend for themselves, and that is where I found myself marrying at a younger stage of life, yet the responsibilities that came with it made the struggle severe. Luckily, Give directly has come through at the right time. I will ensure our livelihood is changed for the best."

"Deficiency of financial resources stands to be the biggest hardship that I face in life. All through my life, I have always desired to be a teacher. My parents struggled to educate me until I completed my secondary schooling but due to lack of finances, they could not stretch themselves further. After several months of hopelessness, I thought that my luck had changed when I got married and my husband promised to see me through college. However as bad luck would have it, he too ended up losing his well paying job before fulfilling his promise and from that time, my greatest desire has remained to be a dream. At times I feel so frustrated with our financial situation because I know that had I managed to go to college, I would be employed and I would be comfortably assisting him with the expenses, but the reality is that there is nothing I can do except to be optimistic that a another chance will present itself for me to still realise my dream.
