"Receiving this money means that I will be able to plaster and cement my house. I current sleep in an iron-roofed house constructed using mud and it has a risk of falling any time. My house will look nice and strong after varnishing hence it may stay for long and provide descent accommodation."

"Receiving this money means that I will be able to renovate my house. My current house has a broken roof and holes at some points of the wall and floor. This is endangering my life since it may fall any time so I sleep each night with fear. When I renovate this house properly by plastering the wall, cementing it's floor and replacing the broken timbers , my house will take many years. Also I will no longer miss sleep since it will look descent and strong for human life."

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is inadequacy of land for cultivation.
The piece of land that my parents gave me as my share is not enough to sustain my household.
I am not able to cultivate as I would really wish to due to limitations of space.
Some times I have had to do casual labour so as to raise money that can enable me to hire atleast a garden.
This is very costly for me because in the first place, the source of income is not clear and yet I have to provide for the household. "

"Receiving this money means that I will spend it for buying farm land. My family is facing shortage of food due to lack of land for farming , so once I get this money owning land will be a priority. I will be cultivating and planting enough crops that can sustain the needs of my family members. Therefore they will be no more serious hunger at my home in future."

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of money to take care of my household needs.
Though I am in marriage, my husband does not support me.
I leave like a single parent because he got taken up by another woman.
I try as much as I can to provide for the family but it seems to me that my effort does not add up.
My children had to drop out of school because I could not raise money to pay their school fees.
Feeding itself is a big charllage in my household because I have never had money to buy land for cultivation from which I would get food.
I am struggling alone with my children. "

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of money.
I have responsibility to take care of my family in all aspects and yet I don't have any income generating activity.
My children are sickly, they study and they need to feed.
What we are able to earn is not usually enough to sustain our family.

Emmanuel
received a $450 second payment.
"My life has tremendously improved in that, I have built an iron roofed house. In the past, I slept under a leaking thatched house which made my children susceptible to illness due to harsh conditions they were exposed to. In addition, I bought an ox plough which enables me plough my farmland on time as opposed to the past when I had to wait other people to finish before I'm given opportunity to plough as well. This has ensured food security in my family."

"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have bought a television. I have always had a problem when my children have to go to my neighbor's house to be entertained. As a result, it has broken our relationship because they are always accused of spoiling properties by the neighbor. This is why I want to buy a television to avoid such issues."
