"I hope that in the next six months, the business I am currently planning to set up will be up and running. I want it to be so stable that when the time comes for the transfers to stop, I will not feel the pinch as I will have an extra source of income to supplement the casual jobs I currently depend on."

"The greatest difference in my life is that I bought a cow. I was spending a lot of cash buying milk for use at home but when I received the money from GiveDirectly I bought a lactating cow which gives us enough milk for use. My children have not been sent home for school fees since I was able to clear the school fee for the whole year. Again I built a house which I had been yearning to built for a long time. With all this great achievement in my life, I see a great change which was made possible by GiveDirectly."

"Currently, I am living a better life compared to a few months back before Give directly came to my life. Through their help, I managed to build a spacious permanent house. I also managed to buy a cow that started producing milk recently. The milk supplements our meals. It is also a source of income. I used the remaining amount to pay for my medical expenses. I am grateful to this organization for helping me. I could not have done all these were it not for them"

"Since graduating from the university in the year 2015,I have not been able to secure a job.The bad economic times in the country have made it difficult to get employment.Having a family requires that one has a source of income to meet the daily needs of the family. This has been a struggle for us,and despite having been educated to university level,I sometimes feel like a laughing stock since I am just at home like the rest of the villagers who didnt even get basic education. This is the biggest hardship I have faced"

"Being a single mother of two has not been an easy ride for me.This is the biggest hardship I am currently facing in my life.I gave birth to my first born at the age of 15.This forced me to cut short my education.I have been doing casual jobs which earns me low income compared to the out put.I mostly go the nearby forest to burn charcoal for sale of fetch firewood for sale. This is how I survive to feed my children and pay school fees for them.Charcoal burning is a very risky exercise since we do not have permits to do that. One might get arrested and fined by the authorities. This is why I want to use the transfers from Give Directly to do something else."

"We used to run a shop business in our home until it collapsed due to financial constraints. Profits we got from the business could not sustainably address the ever skyrocketing household needs. Receiving this transfer will mean a resuscitation of this business to its operation so as to finance our children's secondary education. "

"Owning a separate house, buying livestock and supporting my children's education is what receiving this money means to me. Currently, I am living in a single roomed structure with my co wife and our children with some of them spending their nights on the floor. My wish has been to construct a spacious house for myself when I receive my first transfer from GiveDirectly. This will restore the long lost respect from our children, since it is a taboo in our community to sleep with grown up boys in the same room. I also plan to spend the second disbursement on livestock and supporting my children's education. This will change our livelihood, a transformation that I have longed for."

"Crop pests and diseases as well as unpredictable poor climatic conditions has made it hard to get good harvests which is the challenge i currently face since initially, i used to depend on subsistence farming for survival unlike nowdays whereby crop farming has poor returns. This has made it more difficult providing for my family hence its the biggest hardship i have faced."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own goats. With the goats, they reproduce twice a year and to add on that they require little supervision compared to other domestic animals. When they reproduce and mature I shall sell some in our local markets and use the money to handle other family needs. Apart from that, I will exchange some for a dairy cow so that I can get milk and sell purposely to double my income. And according to me, these are the well-thoughtful assets that will help me in the near future. Thanks to GiveDirectly for making an impact in my living standard at a time I almost lost hope."
