"I am proud to own a cow in my homestead courtesy of GiveDirectlyt. I struggle to bring in assets that I can take pride in and lean on in case of financial needs but this had been challenging due to limited resources. My income has been too small to cater for both household daily needs and investments. I am currently keeping a cow with an aim that once they reproduce, I will have milk for both household consumption and sales. I will have offsprings which to me which I can always depend on in case of any financial crisis. To me having livestock in my homestead is the biggest difference in my daily life."

"In my current state I live from hand to mouth as I operate on a budget of less than 100 shillings a day. I earn very little from my casual jobs and I cannot even account for my wages. I don't have enough to support my children. This term I couldn't even afford their transport and they missed the half break as they were forced to stay with a relative. It is equally difficult to get 3 meals a day especially during drought when there is no farm produce. All this is happening due to financial instability."

"Education is the key towards quality life since it provides one with better opportunities in the economic sector. My parents never took me to school because of the notion that a girl should not be educated. Because of this status I am almost a beggar as I depend on my husband for a living yet he doesn't have a stable job. I wouldn't want generational poverty to run in my family and the only way I can curb this is through educating my children. My plan is to start a goat rearing project that I will use to finance their education. My preference for these animals is because of their ability to resist drought and they multiply very fast thus making them more profitable."

"For the past one year I have been living under a very poor structure after my house collapsed. Since I am not financially stable, I built a house that resembles a chicken pen to shelter my family. The condition of this place is not fit for human life and it is a threat to our security. The house is surrounded by bushes that harbour very dangerous snakes. As if this is not enough the walls are almost falling and it has no door to protect our household items. Therefore, receiving this transfer means constructing a better house to provide my family a decent shelter."

"I've been yearning to own dairy cows like my neighbors. Every day, I purchase milk from them and this is very costly. I believe having my own will be a huge relief in terms of family expenses and nutrition for the children because we will have a constant supply of milk at no cost. And since, free-range is practiced here, the cost of raising livestock is extremely low. In addition, I intend to invest part of transfers in Silver cyprinid commonly referred to as Omena business and the proceeds will help in catering for my children's educational needs."

"I woke up to a good atmosphere where the whole village was in celebration. I heard familiar voices of my friends saying that GiveDirectly had sent our transfer. I first thought that it was rumors spreading around. I did not waste any minute but grabbed my phone to confirm my curiosity. Indeed I could not believe that I had received my transfer. I was overwhelmed with joy and joined my friends in celebrating."

"I am growing older and older thus engaging in daily chores and causal jobs is becoming challenging. I had built a small house while I was still stronger. By then it was pretty and spacious enough for us but as time went by it turned smaller and older. This made it uncomfortable for us and the leaking roof made it worse to stay in. I had a plan to build a more decent house before, a dream that I never saw it coming through since my daily household needs grew higher forcing me to spend much of my wages on. I totally lost hope of building another one as I got older and accepted to stay in my pitiable conditions. When I received my transfer I felt it had dawned on my life. I no longer worry about a leaking roof. Currently, I live under a decent spacious iron-roofed house courtesy of GiveDirectly. Being able to fulfill this at my age is the biggest difference in my daily life."

"I am illiterate and life has been tough due to lack of skills. I have wished to educate my children through primary school, secondary school to college level. Currently, I have 4 children in primary school and One in secondary.Receiving this money means acquiring quality education for my children since I am planning to spend $ 400 on clearing fee arrears of my daughter who is in form four. The remaining amount will assist me in expanding my small business in the village."
