"I have always wanted to be a commercial poultry farmer but I have not fulfilled this dream because of financial challenges. With this money, I plan to construct a poultry house and fence it with a wire mesh all around. This will cost me approximately KES 20,000. Apart from fulfilling my dreams, it will be giving income through the sale of eggs and chicken. For the rest of the amount, I plan to renovate my house that has stood for more than thirty years but it is getting old."

"A major challenge is getting food. We sleep hungry most of the time because we do not have anywhere to grow food crops. The casual jobs I depend on have become so rare to come by, I guess because we are all facing the same challenges in this village, none of us is better than the other. If you look at me right now you can even tell that I don't look strong because I am the one who suffers more. After all, I sacrifice the little food I get for the children."

"Receiving this money means land ownership to my household. This is because I separated with my husband over 30years ago and I have been living on family land. According to our culture, a woman can not inherit anything from her parents. I am living with fear because my brothers might force me to leave anytime with my family. Due to this fear, I opted to purchase my land but the much I paid as a deposit was KES 30000, and the balance as per now is KES 50000. With the help of Give directly, I am now happy to know that I will soon own the land since I intend to clear the balance. The remaining amount will be invested on my children's educational needs."

"I bought this piece of land one year ago and I have not completed its payment and I am always worried that the owner might revoke the agreement and take back his land. Receiving this money will mean that I will be able to complete paying the KES 20000 balance and be free from that debt. I plan to build a bigger house with KES 30000 of the transfer because the one that we live in cannot accommodate all of us (a family of 8) comfortably."

"The major challenge that I am currently facing is financial constraints. I do subsistence farming to take care of myself and sell a liter of milk daily to a milkman who supplies the milk to a dairy cooperative. Recently, milk production has become low and I am unable to sell the milk and this has affected my income."

"Receiving this money means my grandson will complete his university education and graduate next year. I am a widow and I am looking after my grandson who his father left behind and went to live in another town. Due to old age, I strain alot to get money to pay for his KES 100,000 university school fees per year. I only depend on my one dairy cow that produces 3 litres of milk per day which I sell to earn daily income. However how much I struggle to save money, it is hardly enough to cater for all his needs from shelter, food and school fees. I was very happy to hear that Givedirectly was coming to my village because it will lift the burden from me. I plan on spending KES 50,000 to pay for his final semester school fees and use KES 30,000 to buy another dairy cow."
