"The biggest challenge we are currently facing is an inadequate food supply. My husband usually gets a daily wage of KES 200 from his casual job. This amount does not meet the family's needs as well as paying school fees for the two children in secondary school. With the poor rainfall in the area and unproductive farms, we are forced to buy foodstuffs for the family consumption ."

"Am very old and now that my body is sick, I feel dizzy all the time, my body aches after walking short distances, I can easily fall down out of feeling exhausted, I need to have a good rest at home. My house is okay but am sharing it with my daughter who is a divorced from her marriage and it feels so uncomfortable as there is no privacy, I also lack any beddings so I sleep on a worn out mat which makes it very difficult for me, I feel sick all the time."

"I have two sons who are in secondary school. My first son is in his 4th year in secondary school and the second one in his 2nd year in secondary school. I have a fee balance of 40,000 KES and I need to settle this fee balance so that my children can enjoy their education without being disrupted by frequently sent home for fees. I am a farmer practicing domestic livestock keeping but due to the prolonged drought of this year, I lost 14 cattle and I have only 2 remaining. Receiving this money means I will settle the School fees balance for my children and then buy goats . Goats are doing well in our area and I see the importance of keeping goats than cattle because of the drought situation in my area."

One sack of charcoal here at my village cost at 400 KES and the town I am dreaming to start my business cost at 1200 KES , meaning I will be making a double profit per one sack. Receiving this money means I will start this business because I am seeing I will be making good profit and it will make me rich. I will utilize the first transfer in this business and use the second transfer to buy domestic goats to keep as wealthy for my family."

"I feel that it is a very special thing that I have received money from GiveDirectly. I will use this money to finish building my house. I want to make sure that my house is finished and it should look respectful. I want my house to look developed so I will also buy utensils and beddings so that I can live in a nice house."
