"I have three children in Secondary School, two boys are in form three and a girl in form two. Getting school fees has been a problem. They can stay home for a whole term without going to school. It pains me when I can not give them better education, Iam worried they will not complete their secondary school education."

"Receiving this money will enable us to build a house with burnt bricks, buy beddings, food, fertilizer so that we are food sufficient the following year. This money will come at the right time because this house is not enough, we don't sleep comfortably but what can we do. We make do with it. So we will appreciate the money for it will meet our above needs."

"As an old couple, this money will mean a lot for us especially our livelihood. Last year, we did not manage to grow enough crops due to poor fertilizer application as it was very little and the money from selling pigeon peas was not very good. We managed to earn MK50,0000.00. This however was kept to buy food and other necessities as well as keeping some for seeds. This money that we will receive from Give Directly will go towards building a better house with iron sheets, some clothes and also other items."

"Lack of enough food for my family is one of the challenges am currently facing. My children as you can see are not in their best health, I think because we lack variety in the food we eat. I also have a challenge with the income I get, KES. 100 daily caters only for food. It cannot allow me to start diversifying my farming which I know will earn me more income."

"I am currently undergoing the challenge providing sufficiently for our family. We work so hard together with my husband to make ends meet but the stock in the business limits our potential. The house construction jobs in town also are so scarce and the demand for house construction services has generally gone down since the year 2020 when COVID-19 pandemic struck. This has affected our income so much and we can't really do much about it."

"Meeting our basic needs is a challenge, my husband cannot do any work because he has a weak arm. I am being depended on to provide everything. We have educated our children but they have not been able to secure a job which is very unfortunate. We hope things will get better later in life though."

"I have a daughter who dropped out of school when she was in form one in 2020. She has been crying all along because she want to be taken back to school. I am a widow and I have no job to get fees for my child. She is required to pay KES 20000 every year for four years. I will use KES 80000 to taken my child back to school and use KES 20000 to buy 4 goats as investment. This will help me in future. The remaining KES 10000 will be used to buy food for the family."

"We are peasant farmers and people of little means. Life is a struggle and full of uncertainties. There are many pressing needs but the mother of it all is the struggle of paying school fees. We have a girl in Masinde Muliro university and two others in the nearby Kiproroget secondary school. We have depleted most of the resources we had to see them through their education. Receiving this money means that we will be able to pay school fees . We plan to use KES 30000 and the rest of the money to build a better house."
