"Livestock farming has proven to be the easiest and most rewarding investment in our community for a long time. In every household that receives the transfers, you will hardly find one that never considered buying at least a heifer. Even though I had a prolific dairy cow that has been providing us with enough milk for my household use, I also spent KES 15000 on adding another heifer to the herd. I am looking forward to more milk production in the future that I will in turn sell to earn some income. I also equipped the new house that I had constructed with part of the first transfer with new pieces of furniture worth KES23000. The seats in the house are very comfortable with a finely designed cupboard used in storing utensils. I spent the remaining KES 16000 on settling the pending arrears for my son and daughter in the university to make them comfortable as they prepare for their end-of-semester examinations. I feel relieved at the moment knowing that the pressure I had on the school fees timelines has been lifted."

"I registered a lot of transformations in my household after receiving my second transfer. I invested hugely in the construction of a new house. Even though I have not completed putting it up yet, the KES 31000 that I spent on the purchase of the construction materials that included timber, iron sheets, and nails did a great job that left only a small part that is yet to be completed on the floors and windows after paying the labor force. The old hut I had been living in will still be useful as a kitchen as well as a store as I enter the final stages of furnishing the new house. With my family of five, we are thankful to GiveDirectly for making our dream to one day live under a corrugated iron sheet roofed house come true. I spent the other KES 22000 that I had set aside on the payment of a piece of land that I partly paid with the first transfer. I had a small piece of land and had to add an extra piece that can allow us to run other income-generating activities on it."

"Construction of a new house and payment of school fees for my three children would not have been possible were it not for the support from GiveDirectly. It felt great that we were given this support in monetary value that enable us to make personal decisions that influenced our living standards. In my opinion, the approach by GiveDirectly was an amazing one as everyone embraced without a question."

"It is everyone's feel that GiveDirectly did amazing work in every village they worked on. Sending us money directly to our accounts was the best idea given that everyone made decisions on spending. There was nothing ever that went contrary to our expectations as GiveDirectly was always clear in explanation and would deliver exactly on the promise and at the stated time."

"I spent KES 12000 from the second transfer money on paying school fees for the child that I am living with. I also spent another KES 2000 on treating the child. He had fallen ill the first time when I was still having the first transfer and I spent some money treating him. He fell ill again and hence I took him back to the hospital. I am glad that he is now well and he has managed to resume his studies. Apart from the above, I also bought school shoes for the child and food with part of the money. I still have some amount saved, about KES 20000 that I plan to use in building another house. I want to build another house because the one that I currently live has grown old and is about to collapse. I am thus glad that I will be able to fulfill this goal that I have been having for quite a long time. I also managed to clear school fees for the whole term for the child. I hence do not owe the school anything at the moment and this makes me happy. We also have food to eat and hence we are grateful to GiveDirectly for everything they have done to us."

"GiveDirectly is doing well by constantly calling us to check on us. They called us before we got the transfers and they taught us how to safeguard our money. They have also been calling us after we got the transfers and this is good because it shows that they care. I do not see anything that they need to change in their way of work. I would like to urge them to keep up the good work."

"GiveDirectly did well when they decided to hold a meeting with the community members before starting the enrollment process. The people were taught well and they got to understand what the program was all about. They also did well because they delivered their promise of giving us money. I hence do not see anything that I recommend them to change."

"We do not have any major new goals at the moment because we were able to fulfill most of our goals with the transfers that we got from GiveDirectly. We managed to buy livestock, that is, the cows and some sheep. We also managed to build a house for our boys to sleep in. I am going to take care of the livestock while my husband will continue with his business of selling groundnuts in the nearby town. The livestock is going to help us a lot in the future with the children's school fees when they join secondary school."
