"GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community without any discrimination. The process is fair and the field officers are very kind. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well."

"I have no new goals so far considering the one I had in mind was accomplished. I was able to renovate my house, it had an old roof that could lead uncontrollably whenever it could rain. We have been seeking shelter from neighbors every winter season. It was so tough and I am grateful that GiveDirectly came in good time.."

"I am a farmer. A single mother. My husband left me with our children and went to the gold mine to hustle for our family. Unfortunately, he fell in love with another woman. Over 5 years now he has not come back home. He doesn't assist me with our children. Sometimes it's difficult to get their tuition. I sell fufu to take care of my family. Profits I generate from that is used for my children our upkeep. I have always wanted to build a new house for my family. Our house has spoiled. It leaks during the rainy season. I am so grateful. My family will live a better life after receiving all of the transfers."

"Starting a retail shop business is a new goal that I didn't had because I received the transfer. I depend on casual jobs and small scale farming. This earns me a small income and it was only for basic household items. I did not had an extra income to start any business. I am so happy because currently I am in a position to get some profit."

Rose
received a $467 second payment.
"I spent KES 15,000 to pay school fees for my two children in secondary school. My children used to be sent home to collect the school fees and this was affecting their performance. I do casual jobs in the village and the money that I get is small and I was not in a position to clear the school fees on time. I spent KES 10,000 to purchase a heifer. This is an investment and when it reproduce in the future I would be able to get enough milk and cut the daily cost of buying milk. The rest of the money I spent on food, clothes and utensils. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has changed our living standards to be much better than before."

"GiveDirectly does well by leaving the recipients with the decision how to spend the money given them. People have different priorities they might want to prioritize when the cash is available to them. I believe in this way, the change you want to see in the lives of people will be seen when they are left to decide for themselves. GiveDirectly does well by not having interest in a specific group of people.
I think GiveDirectly has not done anything wrong."
