Moses received a $528 second payment.
"My life is now different in that, I did not have any stable source of income. Being an energetic young man with little education, there is no employment I could expect to bring up my family with. I had no choice but to start operating someone's motorcycle in order to put food on the table. Now I have my own motorcycle and carry all the benefits I worked for in the day home. Out of it, I have bought two cows as well as planting sugarcane on my two acres of land which was idle due to inadequate resources to invest on it. I hope of getting big profit out of it and do other project."

"Subsistence farming is my main source of livelihood but it is quite unreliable because of poor rainfall. I therefore supplement my income through harvesting aloevera which earns me around 700 shillings in two months. It has always been my desire to achieve a stable source of income that will meet my family needs with ease. Receiving this money therefore means starting a grocery business in my village, which I am sure it will thrive because of the current drought. Besides, I will purchase oxen to scale up farming and also hire them at a fee. This will enhance food security in my family, which I believe it is the only way towards meeting other expenses like education, medical and clothing."

"My goals now that I have started receiving the money is to buy a piece of land back at home. This is because the price of selling a piece of land there is still low. Buying a plot will help me to relocate from Mathare since I will live on this farm. I am also planning to build some rental houses on this farm which I will be leasing it to people. I will be using the income generated from this to cater my family needs and in my children's education. I am planning to take a loan to accomplish this after my savings from my business will have accumulated."

"I am free from worries and stresses on providing for my family. I lost my job sometimes back and life has been very difficult since I lack reliable source of income. GiveDirectly gave me the power to pay school fees for my daughter without begging for assistance from neighbors. I managed to do fittings for my house which has for a long time stayed without windows and proper doors. It nowadays looks smart and secure. I renovated the floor of my house by plastering it. This has solved the problem of dust and jiggers. I constructed a fish pond which I have already stocked with fingerlings. This is a business on its own in that when the fish mature, I shall sell them and save for future education of my children. I also bought five sheep and seven hens that are doing well. I would have not done all these without GiveDirectly transfers. I feel valued and respected among my community members."

"I spent the second transfer on school fees, Music system, clothing and food. My husband passed on when my daughter was a first year student in Secondary school. I had nothing to support her education, but When I received the transfer, my priority number one was to give my daughter quality education. This will enable her to compete with others in the job market, and make her empowered. I bank my hope on her and through giving her education, I would restore the chance I missed in my education."

"GiveDirectly has brought hope to the poor and orphans like me, My parents died when I was young and my siblings and I have been brought up in the hands of relatives who could only offer food and no education. To me, it's God's gracious hands, and now I am self reliance. I can only see good things but not bad. God bless GD and the donors for the job well done."

"I am planning to do a driving course so that I can own a driving license. Since I do not have money to use in paying for it, I decided to save my most recent transfer so that I can use it together with my next transfer to pay for it. I settled on doing a driving course since I did not finish my high school education hence I cannot do another course without having a secondary school certificate. I will look for a job after completing my studies so that it will act as my source of income. This will help me earn an income which will be enough to cater for my family needs."
