How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is much different compared to the one before receiving money. I was operating someone's motorcycle and had to give return at the end of the day, Unlike today when I am my own manager and I benefit a lot. I also built a better house as well as buying a cow, the things I could not dream of.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has brought hope to the poor and orphans like me, My parents died when I was young and my siblings and I have been brought up in the hands of relatives who could only offer food and no education. To me, it's God's gracious hands, and now I am self reliance.
I can only see good things but not bad. God bless GD and the donors for the job well done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my last transfer on buying a motorcycle. Motorcycle taxi is one of the mode of transport in the locality. It has employed big number of the youths in Kenya. Being a young man of no education, the only means of earning a living was engaging myself in motorcycle operation. Since the owner has got conditions, it was not easy to have something to depend on. Now I am happy that I own my own machine and it is my source of income and I will be able to manage it myself.
