How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now different in that, I did not have any stable source of income. Being an energetic young man with little education, there is no employment I could expect to bring up my family with. I had no choice but to start operating someone's motorcycle in order to put food on the table. Now I have my own motorcycle and carry all the benefits I worked for in the day home. Out of it, I have bought two cows as well as planting sugarcane on my two acres of land which was idle due to inadequate resources to invest on it. I hope of getting big profit out of it and do other project.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has given us equal opportunity to uplift ourselves. I took an initiative of buying a new motorcycle of my own. I used to be harassed by the owner of the motorcycle I was operating, and sometimes getting customers could be difficult, but still the owner was still in need of financial return as always everyday. GiveDirectly should conduct financial literature before starting any enrollment process to avoid wastage of money or unnecessary spendings as witnessed in some individuals.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second transfer on motorcycle. I am a motorcycle taxi rider, and being that I was riding someone's motor bike, the wages earned was always inadequate to sustain the family, that is why I decided to buy my own to get full benefits. Now I gain a lot and already, I have started making some savings for my children's future education. I also planning to buy another motorcycle to engage another unemployed youth.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is owning my house. I had been frustrated where I was living which was my late mother's house where my things could be disorganised because anyone could get access to the house. I also did not enjoy the freedom of staying late because the house could be locked meaning I had to wake my brother or sister in law to get the key to the house which was uncomfortable.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 5am when I was woken by a message from the phone. When I read it I actually found out that it was a message from GiveDirectly. I felt very happy and never went back to bed. I just decided to start taking care of the cows just to keep myself busy as I think of the blessing that I had gotten
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Staying in my late mother's house had not been easy because it came with a lot of challenges. The house was used by anyone including my sister in law could prepare meals there and this could lead to my things being disorganised which could offend me. Staying there had also reminded me that I was of age. When I received my transfer I opted to build my own house where I have acquired peace of mind at least for the first time. I also bought chairs, seats and more clothes. The remaining amount went on paying debts that I had which I could be reminded of from time to time hence branded as a liar.
