"My family does not have a stable source of income. I burn charcoal which earns me six hundred shillings in a month, while my husband sells water in Mombasa and support me with only two thousand shillings in two months. This has made it difficult to educate and feed my children. My son dropped out of secondary school because of five thousand shillings and my three children did not sit for end term exams because of one hundred and eighty shillings. My ambition is to educate my children and give them a better future. Therefore, I will use this transfer to clear the school fees arrears and purchase a dairy cow. This will help me sustain my family's needs without much difficulty."

"I have been aspiring to buy water tank since we have water problem in our area. I am planning to use Ksh 35,000 to buy a 5,000 litres water tank. Even though there is county council water in my compound, we get it twice a month thats why I have deemed it prudent to have a storage tank to cater for water shortage. "

"The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is the happiness and pride I have for having constructed a big decent house. Previously I couldn't afford a peaceful night whenever it rained because I had to wake up wait for the rain to stop, drain water from the floor thereafter spread a nylon bag and my children's bedding on top of it then let them sleep. This is not the case anymore and I owe it to GD."

"The biggest difference is that I can now sell water efficiently using a handcart unlike before I had to carry jerricans of water using my hands this was very tiresome. Besides that, I have an income from the water business and I also get enough having bought a new mattress. Generally there is a very big difference ever since I started receiving the transfers."

"My day usually starts at 6am. After I have ensured that I have prepared breakfast for my family, I go to fetch water from a river which is a kilometer away. Since rains have failed, I am forced to bring two hundred litres of water every day to be used for cooking and other household needs. My husband is a cook at a nearby secondary school and in the evening, he brings food which I prepare for the family. It is at this time that I am happiest because we take supper with my family as we narrate the events of the day."

Now this is the time I am most happy because I have finished the day's work and spend the afternoon bonding with my children."

"The major problem I have is lack of water for home consumption. Currently we get clean water from the county government at a cost of Ksh 3 per 20 litres and yet we go for about 2 kilometres to reach there which is time consuming and tiresome. 300 metres from my house, there is county council water line and I am planning to buy pipes which will cost me around Ksh 40,000 to complete the whole process of pipping to reach my homestead. Therefore, receiving this money mean I will be able to get clean water at my house without going for a long distance."
