"Currently, my grass thatched house is no longer giving me shame since it is already demolished. I have confidence within me that enables me to invite visitors every time I feel the need to. I also boast of harvesting clean water since my house is iron roofed and therefore easier to collect rainwater."

"My life is currently different in that I was able to build a permanent though it was using the first transfer. This has has given me joy and a sense of freedom as I no longer have to move places looking for grass and keep renovating my former hut. In addition, I am delighted that together with my husband we acquired a motorcycle that has boosted his business of selling water in the community. "I was previously living in a grass thatched house that would leak whenever it rained, but with the transfers that we have been receiving from GD, we were able to save and bought enough building materials which we used to construct a new iron-roofed house. We are now living a comfortable life without the stress of having to gather some of our precious belongings in one corner of the house to keep them safe from water during the rainy season. We are also able to harvest rainwater which we can later use during the dry seasons and save a lot of money that we would spend on water. "In my view, GiveDirectly has helped me sort out school fees for my children for both first and second term. Feeding was very difficult but due to these transfers, I was able to stock some food stuffs like cassava flour and beans and also change diet. "I expect my life to change in the next six months, in that, I will have a water storage tank that will help me harvest and store rainwater. "My prayer in the near future is to buy a water tank. We have a persistent water problem in our locality and this has always been a problem for us during the dry season and we usually travel along distance looking for clean water. Having a reserve tank would surely come in handy during such hard times."

"Currently, I do have enough water harvested and stored in my newly acquired water tank. I no longer get tired going to look for water which is normally very far with a horrible terrain. I used to have backaches as a result of carrying heavy jerrycan for a long time. The water tank is big enough to store water until the next season. I feel relieved and happier because my biggest problem is now fully solved"

"I spent part of my first transfer on buying a pair of oxen. Previously I used to hire from neighbors which was costly to me. Also, at times I could not afford to hire forcing me to do the farming on my own which was tiresome.I believe with the pair of oxen, I will no longer be hiring instead I will hire to people at a fee thus earning an income during the planting season. Apart from this, I purchased some building materials which include bricks, sand, iron sheets and cement in order to construct a pit latrine.Before then I did not have access to a toilet and I used to do open defecation in bushes which was exposing me to waterborne diseases like cholera. I thank GiveDirectly because through their financial support, I now have a permanent toilet and this has reduced the risk of being infected with such waterborne diseases.I also paid a portion of the transfer to pay for my children's school fees for them to stay comfortably in school without any interruptions concerning school fees. Lastly, I bought foodstuffs and other basic needs for my family."
