"I spent KES 30000 of the transfer in the purchase of a pair of oxen. It has been my desire to have my own oxen which would facilitate my farming. I have always been forced to hire these services from neighbours for a long time now, occasionally during the planting season which seemed expensive. Also, I have been using hoes to till the land which was ineffective with larger acreage. Having my own pair will enable me to increase my acreage for better harvests. I am also assured of doing my cultivation early and timely. In addition to the pair of oxen, I spent a portion of the transfer to buy 300-litre water storage tank. Currently, we are faced with a water shortage, thus having better storage is economical in ensuring adequate water is available when needed. Lastly, I spent the remaining amount of the transfer to provide daily foodstuffs for my family and in meeting other household expenses."

"On my usual day I wake up at 6:00am I walk straight to where my group office is located in Kiamutisya, Mathare. I normally work on Saturdays collecting garbage in the neighborhood. When I am not at work, I do clean up and water trees around our office so that they don't dry because of the scorching sun that we expect during the day. I then go to have breakfast in a nearby hotel at 7:30am. I return back to where my group is located and hang out with friends as I wait for any opportunity that may come my way like carrying of luggages. I will then leave where our group is located at 8:00am, have supper in a nearby hotel and then head to my house to retire to sleep. In my free time I like to play football with my friends in a space that we have as a group."

"I have always admired my uncle who is a businessman, he started from selling second hand clothes and now he has three big shops in Huruma, he has inspired me to be just like him. I want to use this transfer to open my own business of selling second hand clothes here in Mathare,I believe the income from this business will help me grow economically and improve my life. My second priority is to invest in my agribusiness. I currently own a small piece of land here in Mathare and I use it to grow kales. I supply the kales to someone who sells them in retail. I will boost this business by buying a water pump machine which is approximately 5,000 shilings. I want to use the machine to pump water from the river to my farm. Regular supply of water will help me get more yields and I will not only supply the kales but also open a kiosk for selling more green groceries.My income will grow and I will be able to save more money for the future. Lastly I will buy some clothes and some household items using the give directly money."

"Purchasing a cow in our home which we are now rearing rejuvenated our energies towards working hard. Nowadays we have plans which we are hopeful that they will be accomplished with time. An additional goal that we have now is to purchase a large water tank. We have been working long distances to fetch water which has never been easy. Now that we have a cow becomes even harder and it's been our hope that we make an initiative to own a water reservoir since our area has been raining a lot of late. This water will be collected and used in serving all the domestic purposes."

In my free time I like to watch movies or play games"

"I have managed to buy a few household items such as water storage items in the past few months with the help of GD transfers. These drums have improved my general life because I no longer have to travel a long distance to fetch water during the dry season as I can now store more water. This will also save me a lot of money that I usually spend on water which I can channel on other household needs."
