My life is currently different from how it was before because I now have a stable source of income. This is because I now practice farming unlike before when I used to depend on garbage collection. Due to this, I have been able to pay my house rent on time and cater for my daily basic needs.

My additional goal in life is to improve my farming practices. This will lead to increased yield hence higher returns. With this, I will be able to live a more decent life outside ghetto as it has always been my prayer to move out of this place.

When I received my recent transfer, I spent some amount to build a shade for my pigs. I settled on this since they used to sleep on the farm and it would at times destroy my crops. Also, I spent some amount to buy some school uniforms for my sibling as a way of helping my parents. On the remaining amount, I bought myself some household items that I did not have, paid my house rent for two months and bought food that would last me for some time.

I previously survived on crime where I mugged people to earn a living. This kind of lifestyle made it tough for me to mingle freely with other people, even my group members because everyone was always suspicious of my activities. For this reason, I could not benefit from any of the group's program that other youth benefited from which made me feel like an outcast. About a year ago, I decided to try and quit crime which gained me a little trust among the group members who offered me some little support. Life was still tough because I could not earn enough to take care of all of my needs and I was sometimes tempted to go back to my previous lifestyle. When I finally received the transfers, I got the opportunity to completely turn a new leaf and forget about ever going back to crime. The money helped me clean up and buy some critical household items and started living like a normal person. I have so far gained the complete trust of my group members and I can now benefit from some of the projects such as being in charge of the water vending station that the group owns where I earn an honest living. Besides having dreams would have never been imaginable for someone like me, the transfers have also enabled me to start a livestock project, rearing pigs which have been a great source of income

I have always wanted to start a business on juice making which I think could be a good business in this area where most people work under the sun and are mostly thirsty. This business, however, requires a slightly large capital to start because the juicers are expensive, something I could not afford on my own. I have done my research and I know that the last transfer I will receive will be enough to start off the business which I will then run locally and in other estates as well.

I previously had one pig so I decided to buy more so that I could have a serious project. Part of my most recent transfer assisted me with the purchase of two adult pigs that had at least four piglets each. I also used some of the money to purchase construction materials that I used to build the pigs a shed. The remaining amount I had left was spent on personal and household requirements such as clothing and foodstuff.

My new goal is to boost my business. I want it to be stable so that I can attract more customers. Now that, I have learned the customer's needs, I want to restock even more items that are in demand. I have developed passion in the business and I do not want it to collapse because this will mean going back to the garbage collection job that I have been struggling with for years and that paid me so little.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that my income has increased. I started a business of selling shoes and jackets in the local market and moved away from collecting garbage that was paying me so little. I could never sustain myself with the income that I got from collecting the garbage as the work was also done over the weekends, meaning, what I earned had to take me all through the week. I spent part of my transfer on starting up a business. I sell shoes and jackets. This has been life-transforming because I get a daily income and now I am fully engaged as well. Previously, I used to collect garbage on weekends and stay idle for the better part of the week. The pay was also little that could not be enough to cater for my needs.
