"Upon receiving my second transfer, I opted to purchase a dairy cow worth $400. With it, I knew that I would be able to attract extra income from it and that my children would have enough milk. I had a cow before, but I wanted to add more for it to attract more income and for sustainability. Secondly, I bought two goats for $10. I work in the transport industry as a driver, married and together we have three children, My wife is a consistent farmer and the one taking care of our animals at home. I am so happy for the support that uplifted my living standards amazingly."

"My goal is that in the year to come, I should be able to accomplish my dream of buying a parcel of land. Though this is a challenge at the moment because of my financial status, I am hoping to manage the dairy project and the goat-rearing project well. With it, I can assure myself that I would accomplish this goal in no time."

"In the year to come, I would wish to purchase a parcel of land. With this, I would have sufficient land for farming. I believe that with proper management of goat farming I can easily reach my goals once they multiply. I am so happy that the organization was an eye-opener for greater things."

"The transfers means so much for me. I'm planning to build a house at $80. At least this will be a discent house to live in. I also look forward to buying a bed and mattress since I am sleeping on hard wood and cow skin which irritates and makes it difficult to sleep. I will also buy some goats @$100 and whatever will remain I will buy food; a sack of maize @$50 some rice and cooking oil."

"When I got the second transfer, priority went to my three children who are in school. Two are in secondary school while one is in primary school. Though they had not been sent home for fees, I opted to use $200 for their school fees. I did so because I was not feeling well and I knew I would use the cash for medication and thereafter my children will be stranded. That is why I opted to pay the fees to be carried forward since I felt I may use the money on other this which crop up on daily basis. I also renovated my house because it was leaking during the rainy season. Therefore, I bought 60 poles for $30, and rafters for $50. Currently, the house looks nice after the renovation. I am happy since I sleep in a nice secure place unlike before. I also bought two goats for $70. These goats will serve as a live GiveDirectly remembrance at my home. For the remaining amount, I bought some food for my family because hunger had prevailed in our area."

"I spent my cash transfer on purchasing bags of fertilizer..I managed to buy 3 bags of fertilizer and spent a sum of $140 and about $8 for transportation..I am hoping that I will use the fertilizer in my maize field to increase fertility of the soil and promoting growth. I used the other part of the money to purchase 3 bags of maize at an approximate amount of $66..The food will be enough for family since I have 5 kids and also I had a few bags in my house. I have started a transportation business with the cash as I managed to purchase a second hand motorcycle. My husband, Kennedy will be taking people from my village to Mayani trading centre and sometimes from Mayani to Salima district..I this will help in generating day to day income for my family. Lastly, I bought 1 goat at a price of $50 so that I can start raising at home."

"Firstly, I bought livestock such as goats...I managed to buy a goat at a price of $42, this is my first time to raise a livestock and I intend to buy more in the future as it will be helping me in times when I do not have enough cash. Then, I bought fertilizer with an aim of increasing the fertility of my soil since I haven't been able to achieve higher yields..I spent about $135 on the 3 bags of fertiliser that I bought and $9 on packets of soya seeds. Furthermore , I bought food..I have a small family so I feel the 3 bags of maize that I purchased will be enough untill the end of the year..I spent $60 on the bags of maize. Lastly, I managed to procure kitchen utensils such as pots and plates since I did not have enough materials in my kitchen..I also bought clothes for my 2 kids."

"I created an agricultural objective after resolving the housing problem. Since crop cultivation has often failed us, I want to start raising livestock, especially goats. This is so that goats, as opposed to cows, can endure extreme climatic conditions. Goats have ready markets and are also inexpensive to purchase."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly did a great job which is evident from the transformation of my whole village. The unconditional cash transfers have enabled us to build decent iron-roofed houses, and own livestock such as goats, and cows, our children are also in school and most importantly a good number of us ran businesses. I can't single out anything that GiveDirectly did not do well so far."
