"Being a shopkeeper, I have a dream of owning a shop that will change my financial status. I have enough experience and I will be able to manage it smoothly. To achieve this, I will first invest in goat and chicken rearing projects. These will provide returns within a short period and I will use the profit to open the shop. I will also purchase oxen to scale up farming and also hire them at a fee. "

Alice
received a $538 initial payment.
"Building a spacious house for my family had always been my dream but I was not able to achieve this due to lack of money. When I received my first transfer, I spent part of it to buy some building materials such as timbers, nails, iron sheets and I also paid workers for this work of building my new beautiful spacious house. I settled on this because the house we were living in was a one-room grass-thatched house and could not accommodate all family members. Buying milk has been my routine and it is always costly. Due to this, I used the remaining amount to buy a heifer, a goat and four chicken. When the heifer reproduces, my family will be getting milk for their consumption and I will also be selling the surplus in order to earn an income. I will also be selling some of my eggs at times so as to get money to use in buying basic needs like soap and cooking fat for my family."

received a $22 fifteenth payment.
"I don't have an additional goal at the moment. I want to continue investing in the poultry farming that I had started doing using the previous transfers. I need to put more money into this project in order for it to grow. I have to add more chicken and buy more chicken feeds and extend the structure I had already built for them. Once the business is well established and has started making good profits is when I will think of pursuing other goals."

Ruth
received a $22 sixteenth payment.
"My life is currently different because I meet my needs and those of my family more easily than before. This is because I have an additional income that resulted from investing my transfers over the last four months on chicken layers that have constantly been producing over 60 eggs per week. I am so glad that I don't overstretch my other sources of finances to meet daily basic needs, The salary I earn from my job has been better utilized in establishing a dairy farm project. I have used it to build a dairy unit that can accommodate 6 cows. Plans are now in place and am heading in the right pace towards operations to become a milk producer. I feel that this could not have been possible if I did not have the aid form Give\directly over the last four months."

Margaret
received a $22 twelfth payment.
"For almost three months now, my chickens have been sleeping in the kitchen since I have never constructed them a house. Their number is now growing and in counting, I have around 15 mature chickens plus several chicks. I now have a new goal to construct them a new chicken coop so that they will be staying and laying there. I am planning to obtain a chain link mesh which I will use in building a circumference fence around the coop so that when I let them out they will always rest isnside the fenced circumference."

"The biggest difference in my daily life over the last four months is that I have been able to start a poultry keeping project. Over the last four months, I have been able to improve my poultry keeping project and I have been able to collect enough eggs that is able to buy feeds for the chicken and at the same time afford to buy the basic household needs for the family."

"I have always wished to practice poultry farming, a project that i know can earn me a great source of income upon selling the poultry products but i havent been able to do so due to lack of finances. This money will therefore help me initiate the project. I will be able to buy chicken and their feeds as well as building a poultry unit. I also have to fence around all my compound so that they won't get a gap that would lead them to destroying crops on peolple'farms"

"I do not have any new or additional goals in the next four months since I am focusing more on investing on the requirements for my poultry project to start operating as soon as possible which includes building a chicken coop, stocking feeds and some chicken as well. After this, I will start a dairy project hopefully with the profits I shall have gotten out of selling the chickens, eggs and my farm produce."

"I am rearing about forty chicks at the moment. Imagine increasing the pack to a hundred and having them as fully grown chicken layers in about two months? This is exactly my ambition and what receiving this money means to me. Occupationally I am a primary school teacher, a job synonymous with frustrations of delayed payments so much so that I am contemplating to quit. This is why I am planning to fully venture into poultry farming business which I intend to make it a fulltime job in a few months time. All these would only be a dream if not for the impending GiveDirectly cash transfer."
