How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it was in that, I was able to achieve most of my needs. Today, I have hens, cows, and sheep. I have already started selling eggs and some are normally for family consumption. This could have been different if I could not have gotten the money in that, I would still be buying eggs.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
It has never been easy for someone to give out such a lumpsum amount of money which is nonrefundable, this is a unique thing that I can applaud GiveDirectly for doing. The money was also unconditional. The officers did not use someone else's judgment to enroll people in the program. On the other side, I can not point out anything that did not go well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought a dairy cow with a second transfer. I was determined to have a cow and this was the chance that had availed itself for me to achieve this goal. The various profits that I was going to get afterward like milk which I can sell and even consume some with my family are the reason why I, even so, this as a good project. I also bought sheep which I can resell to take care of emergencies. The remaining amount was spent on shopping and cleared school fees for my two children too.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that my chicken are now safe because I was able to build a better poultry house and perimeter wall. Before, I used to loose quite a number of chicken to wild animals and thieves since my compound was not secure enough and I am hopeful that the proceeds from this investment will now improve. I am also glad that I am finally going to start school that I kept postponing for lack of funds.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 0530hrs in the morning, I was just waking up and upon checking phone, I saw a message informing that I had received some money. I got so happy.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of the transfer to improve my poultry farm by buying a chicken mesh and buying more chicken. I had already planned to improve my farming because of the proceeds from the sale of eggs. I also saved the rest of the transfers for my school fees because I am planning to do further studies.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have always wished to practice poultry farming, a project that i know can earn me a great source of income upon selling the poultry products but i havent been able to do so due to lack of finances. This money will therefore help me initiate the project. I will be able to buy chicken and their feeds as well as building a poultry unit. I also have to fence around all my compound so that they won't get a gap that would lead them to destroying crops on peolple'farms
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy during daytime since i majorly spend the whole day playing and taking care of my 2 month old baby. He rarely sleeps at night due to cholic problems hence i always have restless nights and the only time i get to see my boy happy and the time i also get to rest and sometimes get some sleep is during the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My goal in life was to study upto university level and be a lecturer in future, a dream i never realised due to lack of finances. So far, i have been able to study upto Diploma level, but i desire to upgrade my studies which has proven hard due to lack of finances. This is the greatest challenge i am facing.
