"This money means a lot to us as a family. I'm still in college paying my own school fees worth KES 21,000 per module. This is a struggle given that I don't have a stable job and at the same time providing for my family. We are impressed with Give Directly support because it means I won't struggle financially this module.Im also planning to use some of the money to buy a cow that will supply us with milk for consumption."

"I am a widow and a mother of five. I currently have two sons under my care. It has not been simple bringing up a family single-handedly for more than tens. Farming being my main source of income, I had some livestock which saw me meet my daily needs to educate my children. I sold one by one to meet the ever-rising household needs. Currently, I don't own even single livestock. I only have two whom I borrowed from a relative to help feed my children. This cash transfer means hope in my life. I am planning to buy a cow worth KES 35000. This is will be an asset to take pride in as a family. I will be able to stand again and return my relative's cows. I believe the calves to come will be financial securities thus I will be in a good position to counteract any emergencies arising in my family."

"I have two neighbors who are doing well in dairy farming and I feel challenged to do the same. They are doing it in a small piece of land yet their cows still produce upto 70liters of milk a day. I have had a discussion with my husband but the challenge that we have is lack of money. My husband is a motorbike taxi rider and his daily income is KES 400 or even less. This money is spent to buy food leaving us with nothing at the end of the day. I plan to use my transfer to buy 1 cow and this will cost KES 50,000 while the dairy shade will take an extra KES 10,000. I will be happy to receive this money as this will mean a healthy competition between me and my neighbors resulting in economic prosperity for my family."

"I work as a herdsman and my wife is a stay-at-home mother because I have a sickly child. I have never had a stable source of income and this is what receiving this money means. I am excited to see how my family of five will live well after I own two dairy cows from this transfer since I have none at the moment. I will use the transfers to purchase two dairy cows and build a cowshed. When it calves, I can be able to stop working for other people and concentrate on livestock keeping. This will earn me enough money from the sale of milk and I will carer for my child's medication without straining."

"The biggest difference is that I now have a dairy cow and I have been able to take my wife back to school having dropped out due to lack of school fees. Our lives will no longer be the same and the future of our two children is now more promising. I have plans of going back to school too to finish up on a course that could see me be employed. I am looking forward to accomplishing this."

""Right now, the house I'm staying in is not guaranteed because the palpus has a certain length of time to stay for it to be rebuilt or renovated. So, I'll build a mud-brick house and have a plastered, roof with zinc and also painted for it to look decent for myself and my family. After I shall enrolled my son to school for the following semester, I'll purchase a cow to raise with the rest of thr money left of thr cash transfer.""

"The transfer has brought a big difference in our lives as a family. We are happy because we now have a cow of our own unlike before. We also have enough to eat since we managed to buy some maize for our consumption with part of the transfer."

"The transfer has brought a big difference in our lives as a family. This is because with having bought the cow, we no longer incur the cost of buying milk like before. We have hence managed to save some money. Our child was also able to join a secondary school and for this, we are happy and grateful."

"My husband has been unwell for a continuous period of 1-year. He is 90years of age and has been diagnosed with kidney failure and because of advanced age, he cannot be taken through the process of dialysis. As we speak he is in the hospital and we expect a huge hospital bill because he has been there for the last two weeks. I fear that I might have to sell two or three cows to raise his bill. Apart from my husband, I also have blood pressure and I spend KES 3000 monthly on medication"
