"GiveDirectly did well through uplifting the living standards for the in our society especially the poor and the old . Its evident that the beneficiaries spent their transfers wisely by building new houses, starting small business and up scaling their farming practices. Personally,I do not see what GiveDirectly did wrong at their work."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have built a better and spacious house for my family. we used to live in a small grass-thatched which was leaking from inside. I depend on small scale farming to earn a small income to meet my daily expenses. I did not have any other source of income to enable me to save to build a better house. We used to live in a small house. I have grown up children and in our culture its a taboo to sleep in one house. My children could spend nights at a neighbors house which was so risky because of movement at night. During the rainy season, cooking was a big problem because the house was leaking and lighting fire could take much time. Whenever I had family meetings I used to shy off to welcome inside the house because there was no space to accommodate them. Currently, I have a decent house, my children are no longer spending nights at the neighbors like before. I also don't feel shy to welcome visitors to my house because I have a nice home. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our standard of living." (Occupation: Small business)

"In the six months, I plan to buy new household items such as seats and utensils after building the new house. The ones I have are old because they have lasted three years now. They are the ones I had at the time I got married. I feel its time I have new ones. Therefore, after building the house, I will save my monthly transfers so that I may be able to buy new items and make the whole house new." (Occupation: Small business)

"Before GD came for enrollment, I was operating a motorcycle business for one of my neighbors. The main challenge was when there was little work and I would end up not getting anything after paying my employer. Also, I always had no time to bond with my children as I would go to work very early when they were asleep and at times came back in the evening when they had retired to bed. Owning a motorcycle has enabled me to have enough time with my children and I am always happy each time I am with them. Owning this business has also increased my daily income and I am hopeful that I will be able to do a lot of developments at my home using this money."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is the construction of a new house which we never had before. For a long time, we have been praying over this idea of constructing a new house that came to pass after receiving our first transfer. We are really thankful that this had to happen at this time so that we can start planning other bigger projects going forward." (Occupation: Small business)

"At the moment when I received the money from GiveDirectly, happiness filled our house. Everyone had to wake up that early to witness the blessings which had come that early to our household. We celebrated the receipt of the money and thank God for sending the great organization to our village. Deep inside my heart, I was also grateful that all the projects we had been planning to execute were finally coming to pass." (Occupation: Small business)

"Currently, my life is different from how it was in that my living standards have changed. I moved out of the area that had insecurity and rented a nice house where I do not worry anymore of the security of my family members. Besides that, I have learned tactics of running a business which I did not know since I used to be a housewife. It is only when I got my transfer that I thought of starting a business. I run an Mpesa shop and cosmetic shop. I can not regret but thank GiveDirecly for the financial support."

"I run a shop business with very few commodities. I have always desired to expand it but due to lack of capital it has not been possible. This business is the main source of income in my family. My husband is a casual labourer and we cannot fully depend on his wages since it is inconsistent. Therefore, I have a plan of adding stock to my shop. This will make it more sustainable to cater for our needs. Besides, I will purchase a cow for dairy purposes. This will mean constant milk supply hence more income." (Occupation: Small business)
