received a $435 second payment.
"I am a single mother of three, currently depending on casual jobs to earn a livelihood. Upon receiving my second transfer, I used $310 in buying a dairy cow to reduce the cost of buying milk daily, where I used to buy 1 lire of milk daily at $0.5, which is expensive, bearing in mind my financial status. Secondly, I initiated a goat-rearing project for sustainability purposes where I used $200. Lastly, used the remaining amount on foodstuffs. Accomplishing all these was not easy before, due to financial constraints. I am grateful for the financial support that lifted my living standards amazingly."

"I would like to extend the size of land from the current 0.2 acres to at least 0.5 acres. This will cost me about $450 of the transfers and I believe it will change my life. The remaining $550 I will use to purchase a water tank and two dairy cows. The water tank will serve my family as well as provide water for the dairy cows. I hope with the dairy cows I shall be able to sell 10liters of milk daily which can earn $7 a day. I am now happy that I will no longer have to depend on my husband to provide for everything but I will also be contributing to the family's expenses. I am so grateful to you for empowering me."

"I would like first to construct a decent modern house with a metal roof and buy a 5000-liter water tank to collect rainwater for our daily use. The water that we are currently using is from a nearby water pan and is not safe for drinking though we usually risk and that might have health risks later in life. To supplement our income we would like to purchase a dairy cow which approximately will be giving us 5 liters of milk every morning and this can earn us at least $2.50. We are so determined about our plan and we will do everything that it takes to see that we actualize this which shall improve our lives."

"I teach at a school that buys milk from farmers at $ 0.6 per liter which is $0.2 higher than the retail price. Because of this, I want to venture into dairy keeping by buying a cow worth $500. Cows of that quality produce up to 15 liters of milk a day when it is well-fed. This will fetch me approximately $9 every day and it will be a good additional source of income for my family. I will comfortably pay school fees for my child who is at the same school and redirect my salary to other equally important needs. Receiving money means I will be able to support my husband who is financially constrained at the moment."

"Food insecurity is a major challenge that we are currently faced with. We are a household of 9 and we have a small piece of land measuring 0.5 acres. This is hardly enough to till and do dairy farming at the same time. As such, we are forced to use the land for keeping our dairy cow as it is not enough to carry out maize farming, we are forced to buy the commodity at the nearby Kapkwen market which is expensive and sometimes unaffordable. It worries us a lot since we are people of little means who live from hand to mouth. Sometimes we do not get the money to buy it and we go to bed hungry. Such a life of destitution!"

"I would like to invest this money in buying 2 cows to help me add a source of income because I shall be able to sell 8 liters of milk daily which will earn me at least $5 a day. In addition to what I am currently getting, I shall be able to get at least $8.50 a day. I also have a brother who depends on me fully and I would like to help him start a poultry-keeping business so that he can start to be self-reliant."

"I have a total of 7 children and 5 of them are school dropouts leaving miserable lives. I have two who are still in school and I do not want the same trend to continue. My husband is serving a jail term of 12 years which means I have no one to help me. Being a dairy farmer with 1 cow on my farm, I am not in a position to raise $200 in school fees every year. I am happy that I have been enrolled by GiveDirectly and I can see some light at the end of the tunnel. I intend to spend $300 on school fees so that my children can get ample time to study."

received a $435 second payment.
"Four of my kids are in secondary and primary education right now. They are my responsibility, and I must admit that taking care of the majority of their requirements has been difficult because I don't make much money from my side job selling fries to students at a local school. I invested $230 in a dairy cow to raise in order to boost our household income. After it has given birth, I hope to profit from milk sales, and in addition, I hope that my kids will have access to enough milk to improve their nutrition. In the future, I might also sell some of its young ones to fulfill our household demands. I used the first disbursement to pay for a deposit on a piece of property I had purchased but still owed the owner $100, which I fully settled with the most recent stipend. I'm delighted I now possess the plot of property on which I have already begun building rental homes. Our kids also had outstanding school fees balance of $135 which I paid with a portion of the allowance. The final $500 I had was used to buy food for my family."
