"In my opinion, I believe that GiveDirectly has done well in ensuring that we are uplifted from the poverty that had surrounded us through their financial support. To some, getting a decent shelter was a problem, our children's education was also another hardship. However, after receiving the support, we were able to change our lives at our households level. We have managed to build decent houses, we own assets in terms of livestock which can be of help in case of a financial hardship as well as paying for our children's school fees, which were the major challenges to us. I don't see anything that GiveDirectly doesn't do well."

"Active participation in the merry-go-round in the last four months is the biggest difference in my daily life. This project has seen me improve in many developmental areas in our household. Paying school fees, availing enough foodstuff to the household, ensuring that my children dress well and finally the biggest of all has been the construction of a concrete water tank with a capacity of 18000 liters has been encouraging to me. All these are courtesy of the transfers I have been receiving every month which have enabled me to constantly contribute to the merry-go-round."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to buy milk and it was so costly for me. I depend on manuals jobs in the village to earn an income to meet all the basic needs of my family. Sometimes I could go to the forest to fetch firewood to sell to get money for the basic needs. I could wake up early in the morning to look for casual jobs and come back late at night. I had no much time to interact and bond with my family. Buying cow was not on my list because I had no continuous source of income or savings to use. Currently, I have a dairy cow. I have enough milk for my family used and I sell the surplus milk to earn an income to meet other basic needs including paying school fees for my children. I no longer do much of the casual jobs like before. I have devoted much of my time on my own farm. I am so much grateful for the support because it has improved our standard of living."

"My children are happily in school because of the financial assistance I received from GiveDirectly. I was facing challenges in paying for their school fees on time, which resulted to them being sent home at times as learning continued. When I received the money, I paid in advance which gave me enough time to prepare for their next payments. In addition, I am also owning a cow and a bull, which I acquired through this transfer. I will be getting milk firm the cow for my family consumption. In addition, I can as well sell the surplus to earn some cash. The bull will help me in ploughing my farm since I have a complete pair. I will no longer be hiring oxen during the planting season, instead I will hire to them at a fee, which is an income to me."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in the fulfilment of its objective of alleviating poverty. I can attest to this that our lives have greatly changed since receiving this money. We were able to acquire some things that seemed impossible to us. Some of us could not afford to pay for their children's school fees, others could not afford the basic needs such as shelter and foodstuffs. Ever since receiving this financial help, fulfilling them has never been a problem to us. We also own assets like livestock. To us this is a big achievement. I don't see anything that GiveDirectly doesn't do well as far as the financial support is concerned."

"In the past four months, I have been spending part of the transfers on buying food items for the family. Through this, I have managed to save earnings from casual jobs and spend on paying school fees for my son. I am happy now that I completed paying his school fees on time and he is now sitting for his final exams. He had time to prepare well and believe that he will perform well since he was not sent home like before."

"My new goal is to start a fruit blending business in my neighborhood. I live in a place where there's a high demand for fruits and fresh juice but the nearest place to get it is quite some distance away. My fellow students will be a big market for me. The proceeds from this business will help me meet my daily needs and even pay my school fees and help my parents with some of the requirements."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a heifer. I used to buy milk from my neighbors and it is very costly for me. I depend on the manual jobs in the village to earn an income to meet basic needs of my family and also pay school fees for my children. I could not get any extra income to buy a dairy cow. Currently, I have a heifer and this has given me hope that I will get enough milk in the next few months when the cow reproduces. I will also be in a position to sell the surplus milk to earn an income to meet other additional needs for my family and pay school fees for my children. I am so much grateful because GiveDirectly has brought hope for us. I did not know that one day I will own a dairy cow."
