"Am so excited to receieve this money as am planning to buy a piece of land in bushubuya in the centre. The land there goes for abouut $1388 as the area is a bit safe and does not have landslides and mud flows in the area.
Am also planning on buying a cow that can produce milk for my children to consume. The cow goes for about $555."

"I was enjoying a cup of tea when I got the text at exactly 4:24 pm. Upon checking what the text entailed, I realized that I had received money from GiveDirectly. I was elated with joy knowing it was an assurance I will achieve the goals I had set. I shared the news with my wife and she was equally happy. We had plans of purchasing a dairy cow and seats. It was a relief to us knowing we will get to do as planned."

"I felt so much happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I was at home that day going about our daily duties when I heard my phone ring. Upon checking, I confirmed that I had indeed been sent money by GiveDirectly. I knew that I was finally going to be able to buy a dairy cow- an investment that I had always wanted to do but which I could not do because of lack of money."

Benalyn
received an initial payment.
"So far, the biggest difference in my daily life has been the addition of a lactating cow to our assets after spending $350 from the first transfer to purchase. Buying milk is no longer an issue because we hope to breed it next season after weaning. We continue to receive at least two liters per day, which would have cost us $2 per day. We haven't raised our debt ceiling as much because we have been able to pay for any item we want from the store with the money we have been saving."

Eddah

"I have been running a hair salon in a nearby shopping center, while my husband owns a restaurant in a nearby town. Even though the burden of obligations would always overwhelm us, we are always motivated to leave the house every morning and return home with at least some daily earnings. We intended to invest in assets, but the small amount we were getting from the businesses was barely enough to cover household bills and clothing for my family of six. On receiving the first transfer, we bought two heifers at $230 to add to the lactating cow that we already had. Unfortunately, the lactating cow and one of the heifers died of varying severity, leaving us with only one. It was a heartbreaking moment for my family, and we considered it a loss because we had high hopes of breeding them. My husband also agreed to invest $200 in my salon business, allowing me to purchase a shaving machine and restock some hair pieces for sale. I am pleased that the business is doing well and attracting more customers than in previous months. In addition, I spent the remaining $100 on groceries and clothing for my entire family of six."
