"I am a single father of two. A form one and a class seven pupil. Whenever the schools open, they go to their aunt's place in Bangladesh, Mombasa town and when they close, they come back home. I am the one who supports them financially. Currently, they have school fee arrears of ksh7800. This was after I reduced it by ksh1150 that I had received as my first transfer. I had some money I had saved up so I reduced the arrears to ksh4000. So, when I received my second transfer, I saved it all to the Chama I am in. I joined it because I need some funding to buy a motorcycle. For three weeks now, I have been at home. This is because my Tuk-tuk got damaged and I took it to the garage for repair. It has not yet been repaired since I do not have ksh5000 to pay for the service. So now I only depend on the Chama for my financial support."

"I have a young family with only one child who will be turning three in April. I already so have three siblings who depend on me financially.  So often, I would support myself through my mother from the earnings I get in my wine brewing and motorcycle business. On a daily basis, I normally make around ksh200. The funds I received from give directly have also boosted my finances and now I can do more with so much ease. For instance, in my first transfer, I bought a goat worth ksh1500, and the remaining amount, I substituted to what I have to buy a bed that cost me ksh4600. Then my second transfer I bought a 4x6 mattress that costs ksh3700. The ksh700 was from my earnings."

"Receiving this money means improved business. I am a business person selling second-hand clothes during market days around my village. During the rainy season, it is a challenge because I do not have a shade and my clothes are rained on and since the motorcycle is my means of transport this has exposed me to communicable diseases like flu. So when I get this transfer I will use it to rent a shop where I will be using it to sell them. This will reduce transport costs and chances of getting flu."
