"I intend to start a business to support my children in school. None of my children have been to school before since they were born because we don't have money to pay their school fees. The business will be a great help to us in that the little cassava farm we can make every year is not producing enough to enable us sell some of the cassava to get money for the children school fees. Everyday when other people children are going to school, they can be crying for me to prepare them for school. It has become so embarrassing that when ever school is open, I keep them indoors every morning until all of the school children in the town has left for school. It has always been my prayers that God should bless me with enough money to pay my children school fees."

"I intend to start a small business if I am bless to receive the money, and pay my children school fees too. If I start a business, it will help me with enough money to provide other important things for my children such as clothes, pay hospital bills and support them in school. I am a disabled person who doesn't do hard work like other people. Right now, things not easy on us because people have to allow go to their old spot after they harvest their farm for me to get what ever is left for me and my children."

"My desire has been to start irrigation farming so that I may have enough food supplies for my family. Initially, I use to struggle doing casual job in order to provide food for the family. Many instances, my kids were going to bed without food or having a single meal on a lucky day something that brought a lot of frustration in life. After receiving my transfer, I spent KES 20000 to purchase one acre piece of land close to the Galana river, where I am currently practicing irrigation farming growing maize for the family consumption. Currently, I can harvest 12 sacks of maize from the farm which is enough to feed my family of 6 for 5 months. Previously, I was a charcoal vendor a job that earns me KES 100 per day which was hardly sufficient. In addition, I obtained 4 goats at KES 4000 each, this is my future investment for the family. I will be able to sale them to educate my 5 children once they reproduce or help us whenever we face any financial challenges. I also spend 6000 to clear the full year school fees for the 4 children. The remaining amount assist me in purchasing clothes for every member of my family since we had very few clothes to change."

"My life different than it would have been if I never received the transfer in that I no longer have to worry about the future of my 5 children's after supporting their educational needs. Previously, I was struggling to educate them , most of the time they were send home due to school fees. This affected their performance and they had to repeat classes since most of the time they were at home. Furthermore, I was able to improve the livestock rearing by purchasing 12 more goats and purchasing veterinary medicine to treat them whenever they fall sick."

"If I'm successful to receive my transfer I intend to pay my children tuition fees because no one to help me pay for their fees. I am old now and is unable to make a big farm as I used to before to raise more money. School fees have increased these days making it even more difficult to send more than one person to school. The school is around 18,000 Liberian dollars from the information sheet I received for this year."

received a $501 initial payment.
"I am an orphan and my siblings and I depend on our guardian for most of the things ranging from food to our school fees. After our parents died, my father's brother gave us one of his house to live in and instructed me to build a house for my siblings when I complete my secondary school studies. The transfers enabled me to build a house that we're almost moving into it and to pay for my school fees and that of my siblings. Due to this, we have been able to concentrate on our studies this term as we have never been sent back home like previously when I was constantly in and out of the school. Having been able to achieve this has made my life different"

"I spent part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on purchasing public address systems. This was always my dream. Before this I was employed by a friend who had his public address system. I used to work for him daily. The payment was so small and cannot meet all the basic needs of my family. I had no extra money to saved so that I can purchase mine. I used to struggle so much, wake up very early in the morning and back home late. This was so tiresome and I had no time to bond with my family. When I received the second transfer I purchased all the public address system. Currently I have my system and I run this business myself. I rent out to people who has functions ata cost of KES 2,500 .I am able to generate income to meet other basic household needs including paying school fees for my children. I have also started savings which was not possible before. I am so happy because this was my dream. My plans now is to buy another system so that I can employ someone to run it for me."
