Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
How I felt when I received my first transfer from GiveDirectly: I felt happy when I received my first transfer from GiveDirectly because I never received such help like that from anyone before. When I was told that I have received money from GiveDirectly by my son, I was rejoicing that day.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I received started receiving transfer from GiveDirectly: I believe that my life has changed because I can eat on time now; I am also able to pay my son school fees with out any stress from hard work. Before GiveDirectly came to help us, I used to make coal for sale to support my family and to send my son to school; but thank God for GiveDirectly who have helped me to solve my problems..
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
What I spend my recent transfer on: I used part of my transfer to pay my son school fees; the remaining will be use to buy fertilizer for my crops so that my farm can improve. I try farming this year but my crops are dying; so I will use my transfer to improve it because I know when my farm produces more, I will raise enough money for my expenses.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I'm successful to receive my transfer I intend to pay my children tuition fees because no one to help me pay for their fees. I am old now and is unable to make a big farm as I used to before to raise more money. School fees have increased these days making it even more difficult to send more than one person to school. The school is around 18,000 Liberian dollars from the information sheet I received for this year.
What is the happiest part of your day?
What makes me feel happy in the last six months, after going through all of the struggles to educate my children was when I received my children progress report for this year. Just imagine after spending all the money to send them to school and they passed, it really makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The major challenge in my life right now is how to get money to pay my children tuition fees. I want to educate my children because I never go to school so that they can become important people tomorrow. Some of them may become doctor, president, representative, senator or even ambassador for Liberia in the future. Even if I don't live to see them become those important people, I will rejoice in my grave.
