"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought two heifers. I buy milk everyday and it's so costly for me. I spent KES 80 ans above per day. This is so expensive since I do not have a continuous source of income. I depend on casual jobs in the village. The amount of money that I get through this casual jobs is so small. It's only for basic household needs including paying school fees for our children. I had always wished to own a dairy cow. Currently I have two heifers and it has given me hope to work even harder. I know in the next few months I will cut this cost. I will sell the extra milk to earn an income. I have devoted much of my time nowdays to look after my cows."

"I spent KES 22,000 to purchased a water tank. This has enabled me to store clean water for drinking and domestic use. I no longer walk for that long distance to collect clean water. I paid KES 12,000 school fees for my daughter who is in secondary school. She was able to study well without being sent home. I purchased a fencing wire and fenced my compound. I bought sofa set seats and food for the family."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a heifer. I will be able to get enough milk for my family when it reproduced in the next few months. I will cut the daily cost of buying milk which is so expensive. I spent KES 36,000 per year on purchasing milk only. I had always wished to own a dairy cow but it was not easy because I didn't had money. I depend on small scale farming and sometimes I sell the produce to get some money to purchase other household items. Sometimes I do small business of buying goats from farmers and selling at the market to earn a profits. I used the money I get to pay school fees and other household items needed. I was not in a position to save some money. Currently I have my own heifer and I am so happy now. I know all the struggles will come to an end. My children will get milk daily. I am so grateful for the support."

"The moment I received the transfer I felt so happy. I remember vividly that it was around 9am, when I was doing my morning chores at home. I heard a ringtone message from my phone, since I was not expecting any message from anyone I was so curious. When I checked it I couldn't believe my eyes. It was message confirming that I have received money from GiveDirectly. I was overwhelmed with joy. I immediately inform my spouse and we really celebrated the good news. We knew we would be able to pay school fees for our children and clear the debts that I had. I went and withdrew the money the same day."

"Receiving this money will mean that my children get quality education. I have 5 children and my first born joined secondary school this year. Her school fees per year is KES 20,000 which is a struggle in paying. My other children are still in primary school but their school expenses combined and paid for means I don't get extra capital for other basic needs such as food. I hope to use KES 20,000 to pay school fees for a year for my first born and KES 5,000 for my other children school expenses. My house has not been completed and the roofing and floor is not cemented, I will use about KES 40,000 to finish construction of the house. The remaining amount of this money will aid my family in purchasing food and clothes."

"Recieving this money means I will start my business of buying maize in large stock and selling them locally, it has been a while since I thought about it. I will also offset a huge school fees balance for my children who are in secondary school. Being a single mother, for now a decade when I lost my husband who was a bread winner in the family, it has been a struggle of here and there to us in the family. I want to thank Givedirectly for coming to my home. I plan to spend KES. 45,000 to pay school fees, KES.50,000 to start the business and the remaining balance to buy food."

"My daily life is different because I was able to start a butchery business in our neighboring town using part of my transfer. Due to this, I have been able to pay school fees for my children who are in boarding schools and cater for our daily basic needs on time unlike before. Because of this, I am nowadays happy and contented knowing that everything is sorted out as we have a more stable source of income."

"My life has never been the same again ever since I received my transfer because I have added an asset in my homestead as I was able to purchase a dairy cow. Because of this, my income from the dairy project has increased due to the increase in the amount of milk that I supply to the cooler plant. I will be setting aside part of this money so that I can use it in buying animal feeds and supplements and use the remainder in paying school fees for my children."

"Seeing my children through their education has been my aim since I want a bright future for them despite the financial constraints I face. Recently, my daughter had stayed at home for a week since she had been sent back home to collect school fees. This had left me devastated as I had no money at that time and I am glad since she was able to resume her studies after I cleared her fee arrears using the transfer. This has changed my life since apart from being able to continue with her studies, I am optimistic that she will no longer be sent back home again as I am planning to be using the income from milk sales to cater for her fees on time."
