"Before receiving the transfer, we lived in sad, poor conditions. Our house was old and falling apart. My children slept on the floor since we could not afford to buy a bed. We constantly worried about our safety because of the living circumstances. We also could not afford to meet some of my family's basic needs, especially education. I only earn KES 200 a day from selling charcoal and most of it is spent on buying food for the family. Thankfully, this changed once we received this transfer. We were able to build a spacious, comfortable house that can accommodate all seven family members. We no longer have anxiety about our safety. We also acquired goats that provide us with a steady supply of milk for use at home. Finally, we have paid school fees for our children. They can now learn without the disruption caused by a lack of school fees. It makes me happy that our lives have transformed for the better."

"The biggest difference in my daily life after receiving the first transfer is having my children settled in school. They had been facing a lot of challenges especially during the examination period as their schools have been strict on clearing school fees before sitting for any paper. I am grateful and at peace now that they can't be sent out of their classes for the whole term."

"I am a single mother of four who depends on casual farm jobs to get money. This kind of jobs are seasonal and I find myself struggling a lot to make ends meet. Receiving this money will help me settle the basic needs for my children and educate them as well. I will be setting aside money for food every month. For school fees, I am required to pay KES 1500 every month and as my children progress to higher grades, this amount increases. I also plan to start a poultry project which I will be expanding with time. This will serve as a backup source of income whenever I need more cash."

"Besides being old and sickly, I often go without meals. I rely on my lastborn son who works as a casual laborer in town. He has a family of seven. Most of the cash he sends is usually channeled to pay school fees. Breakfast is not a norm. The lack of enough and nutritious food has contributed a lot to my sickly life."

"Being a shopkeeper, I invested KES 20,000 in my small shop business, it was struggling and about to collapse due to lack of enough capital. Currently, the profit has raised from the normal 400 to 1000 per day. With this income, I can cater to the needs of my family without much struggle. I also spent KES 14,000 to purchase 4 goats at KES 3,500 this is a future investment for the family. With 5 children currently in lower primary school, I will use them to support their studies once they join secondary school. Furthermore, I spent KES 5000 to clear the existing fee arrears of my children. They were constantly sent home due to school fees, presently, they focus on their studies because they are no longer send home because of fees issues. In addition, I bought proper beddings for the children they were sleeping using sacks that were not comfortable. The remaining amount assist me on purchasing enough food for the family."

"After receiving the first transfer, I spent KES19000 on obtaining a water tank to help reduce the frequent visits I had been making to and from the river. This had been useful in the collection of rainwater from the roof both for our home use and also for the livestock. I also spent KES20000 on obtaining a heifer to add to the other lactating cow I had been having. I am hoping to soon increase milk production that has been of great help in sorting most household bills whenever sold. With the remaining KES 15000, I paid school fees for my lastborn son who is currently in college. Together with the two of us, we are currently a family of three, and we are working hard to ensure that he gets enough resources to complete his college studies."
