Jennifer
received a $462 initial payment.
"WhenI received my first transfer, I completed payment of my farm land in order to cultivate crops. I paid school fees for my two children since education is important. I have also paid for labour towards digging a pit latrine in order to improve on family hygiene. I spent part of the transfer for purchaisng a cow which will act as an income generating activity for my household and the balance I bought household items like plates, saucepans and bedsheets in order to improve on my living conditions."

"I have 8 children and all of them are in school, one of which is in secondary school. With dependency on one dairy cow and and casual jobs in the village, the dues we get cannot sustain my children through school. As a matter of fact, my second born daughter had to forgo joining secondary school this year after sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination due to lack of funds. Not being able to sustain my family needs has been the biggest hardship in my life. "
