I have come across many economic hurdles in my life. We have had issues with our farming,We invest a lot in maize farming, it being our stable food, but we do not get good returns because for several years now the maize was infested by pests and diseases. With GD transfers we were able to buy tea seedlings which are doing well now.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I want to see my children get good education. I am planning on saving the little I get to better meet their educational needs. I am very optimistic because I have diversified my means of livelihood from casual work to tea farming.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Working on casual jobs is exhausting and unfruitful. We could not get enough money for both household needs and tuition fees for our children, leave alone a small amount of money to be saved for emergencies. I am happy I got to relax when GD send me this money I have had time to do my personal work and even work on our own "shamba"
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
I am planning to put up a modern house because the house we are living in is house is grass thatched. I want a modern house with a iron roofed kitchen. We will be able to earn an income from our tea farm for building the house.
