"My foremost objective revolves around securing a deserving education for my two children. To achieve this, I will prioritize paying their school fees and acquiring any necessary educational materials that facilitate their learning journey. I intend to utilize the funds from the transfer specifically for the purpose of providing my children with the highest level of education they can attain. In addition to their education, it is my aspiration to address the necessary repairs needed for my house. The aging iron sheets that currently serve as the roof pose a concern, as I worry they may detach in the near future. To preempt this situation, my plan is to diligently save and gradually purchase new iron sheets until I have accumulated enough resources to undertake a complete roof makeover."

"My challenge at the moment is the lack of money. Because of the increased drought, it has been very difficult to get work in our region. I'm a construction worker and at the moment I only get work occasionally. This has also led to a lack of food which makes my life hard since I sometimes have to skip some meals."

"My main challenge currently is the lack of money. Since there have been prolonged droughts in our area, we haven't been able to get casual work which we depend on. This is challenging because I cannot afford to buy food."

"At the moment the aspect that is making my life harder is my disability. I was born with a leg problem that does not allow me to walk properly. This has created a big challenge for me because I'm unable to do normal activities such as working on the farm. Because of this, I depend on the sale of my few goats to purchase food. At the moment I lack food and I have to sleep hungry. This makes life very difficult for me."

received a $142 initial payment.
"When I received the transfer, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to stock up on food supplies and pay off my children's fee arrears. Being a farmer, my livelihood depends on farming, but the previous season was unproductive due to a lack of rainfall. I am married and blessed with five children. Upon receiving the transfer, I pent $135 towards purchasing food supplies to ensure that we have enough to sustain ourselves for a while. This was crucial to ensure that we wouldn't go to bed on an empty stomach. Additionally, I used $50 of the transfer to pay off the school fee for my high school children. I'm delighted that I was able to accomplish so much in such a short period of time."

Sidi
received a $25 tenth payment.
"My primary objective, not just for this year but also beyond, is to focus on expanding my livestock holdings. This approach serves as an excellent means to accumulate wealth and establish a contingency plan. By owning more livestock, I can ensure that I have the option to sell some in case of an emergency and utilize the proceeds to address any issues that arise. In addition to investing in livestock, I am determined to save a sufficient amount of money to renovate my deteriorating house. The current state of my roof, with its rusty iron sheets, has led to severe leaks, causing considerable damage to my property during this rainy season. Moreover, the cold, chilly weather at night has further exacerbated the situation. Therefore, it is imperative that I allocate resources towards repairing my house and resolving these pressing concerns."

"I am planning to buy a piece of land for me to farm and settle with. I live on my uncle's piece of land and farm on it. I would want to have my own piece of land which I can farm and call my own, as much as my uncle has been generous with his a man should have something of his own and that's why I am saving from my transfers and buying goats so they can reproduce and I can sell them to but the piece of land."

"It's hard getting money to educate our children. We have two in Secondary and one who finished high school. For the ones who are still in secondary, we have $200 fee areas. Our daughter who completed form four cannot collect her certificate because of school fees areas of $150. This has affected her progress to college or a technical training institution. Our inability to raise enough money to support our children's education has been saddening. It worries us because education improves lives and we cannot offer our children now."

"Our biggest challenge is food access. We have been growing our farm every year. But end up with low to zero productivity. The year 2019 was the last I remember we harvested well. Over the years we've been depending on selling our goats to sustain our family of 8. This has strained our stock numbers. We buy all food items and sadly the cost of living has been getting expensive every passing day. This has affected our ability to give our children stable food access. It has affected their health."

"Due to the existing economic conditions and the drought, the cost of living has significantly increased, leading to a substantial portion of our income being allocated towards food expenses. However, with the onset of rainfall, we have embarked on farming and cultivated crops like maize and green gram. Once we harvest these crops, our food expenditures will be reduced, allowing us to prioritize improving our living situation by constructing an additional room. Currently, my mother and I live in a cramped one-room house, and the new extension will serve as a bedroom for my children."
