Lilian
received a $25 thirteenth payment.
"I am a tailor and that is what makes me a living. I do most of this work from home since I cannot afford to rent out a place at the shopping centre. I hope to one day move my business there. My goal at the moment is saving towards acquiring a piece of land at the shopping centre and using that space to put up shops for business. I do not know how much land goes now since the price fluctuates depending on need but I have an informal savings group to which am saving to help me achieve this goal."

"I have 6 children and five are in school. As I said my daughter is in secondary school form one. we do not earn much from our endeavours which leaves us at a loss. I would love to get my children through school and even ensure that some complete school. I plan to buy animals whenever possible to increase my investment as animals reproduce and this increases their numbers. with this animals whenever a need in school arises I will be able to sort it out to the best of my abilities."

"I hope to get my children through school. I have five children, four are in school. My two daughters are in secondary school form four and one while my other son and daughter are in primary school, one in class 5 and the other class 3. I want to give them a better chance at life. I didn't get an education and that has maybe limited my opportunities but I do not want my children to suffer the same fate. I am also buying animals which will act as a cushion since animals reproduce whenever we will have need for school fees with the animals we can always sell to cover that need."

Emaline
received a $25 thirteenth payment.
"I have been working in a grocery store as a shop attendant and I have had a chance to observe the way it has been with that business. The business does so well because the drought has made us reliant on buying our food. My hope is to start a grocery shop of my own. Probably start with potatoes and work my way up to other goods. I believe having this business will give me a chance to focus my finances on educating my children. I will also be able to add some more animals, I have bought some goats and chicken and I hope to add to this maybe buy some more goats and chicken which I can always sell when they reproduce and become many."

"Food and financial security is what I intend to accomplish in this coming year and beyond. I have ventured into maize farming to get food as well as sell whatever surplus I make. I would also like to expand my growing livestock business and this means that I will provide well for my family, both in terms of food and finances."

"I want my children to get through school. I know this program will be with us only for a while and I would not want to go at a loss. I want to invest this transfers to educate my children so that if the rains continue I can invest my earnings in the farm lands and increase yields to ensure we have a plenty supply of food. I want at least all the children to clear school or at least get to the end so they can each get a chance of supporting myself and my wife when things get better for them."

"My goal is to expand my business. I have done so much to try and ensure that I do not spend a large part of my transfers on food by tilling and planting these food crops that I hoe to consume with my family. I plan to use my transfers to get more animals which in turn means they will reproduce. this animals even as they grow in number I hope to eventually be able to sell some and reinvest in expanding my shop and add more items for sale."

Joyce
received a $25 ninth payment.
"I had always wanted to own goats, it was however not a dream I could achieve as I said earlier once we sorted basic needs no surplus was left. I knew I couldn't get this dream on my own and decided to jump at the opportunity of pursuing it when Givedirectly came to us. I have bought a number of goats and now I stand at 11 goats. I am saving in my informal savings group to get more goats. The goal for this is to ensure that I have an investment that multiplies on its own. I am buying more female goats that male to ensure this. My plan is that this animals will cushion me when need arises."
