"I spent my third transfer by giving my husband who payed bride price to my parents. I also added 4,000 KES to our Tinsmith family business that we started a few months back by investing 26,000 KES from my second transfer .We make and sell metal storage boxes, charcoal burners, frying pans and other items in Busia County. My husband reports to me that in just a few months' his stock of metal boxes has almost doubled from 30 boxes to 50 boxes, since he is currently saving money in the form of stock. The stock is not really selling fast at the moment but this is good investment. Before GD transfer, my husband worked for someone in the same industry but GD Grants provided an opportunity to start our own venture. Personally I had invested 15,000 KES from my second transfer on clothing materials which I used to buy from Busia where our Tinsmith business is, and sold them in the nearby markets. However, I later changed to sell tomatoes as they move faster than clothes. So far with my proceeds from tomatoes, I have already bought a goat worth 3,500 KES and spent another 3,700 KES on family emergency. The business is doing well.I thank you."

"I spent my third transfer on buying a second hand motor cycle for 60,000 KES, having topped up with 13, 000 KES saved from our second transfer. Before we got GD transfer my husband used a hired motor cycle for transportation business, where he paid 1,500 to motor cycle owner per week, but he would give me 50 KES-200 KES, per week for house upkeep. In fact I used to survive by washing clothes for people. I thank God I invested 14,000 KES from my second transfer on second hand clothes business and I sell the clothes in different markets around, depending on the market days concept. As we talk now I have a stock of about 15,000 KES, and savings of 8,000 KES. In addition, my husband gives me more money for house upkeep since we acquired our own motor cycle. Again, he himself has already bought six bags of cement using profits from the business in readiness for plastering our house in the near future. He also has savings as much as he does not reveal to me the details. These days our living standard has improved and eating chicken in our house is not a problem."
