"My mother was diagnosed with lung cancer and was admitted to Tenwek hospital for about 5 months in 2016. She fought hard for her life. We did all we could but she passed on in July the same year. Before her demise she operated a clothes business that sustained our family including my school fees and other basic needs. Besides, she played a big role in my life including moral and emotional support. Losing her is the biggest hardship I have faced in my life."

"In 2013 my father allocated me a quarter of an acre piece of land and I planted tea in it. Growing tea was the best decision I made at that time because at the moment, the tea leaves I sell from my farm is sustaining some of my basic needs like clothing and food for our family. This is an achievement I am proudest of because I feel mature in the sense that I don't have to pester my father about my needs. This gives me a sense of fulfillment. "

"The achievement that am proudest of is building a house for my family. I work as a casual labourer within the village. I struggled a lot to save at least five hundred shillings per month through merry go round- I was able to buy iron sheets through the savings and build a descent home for my family. This made me so proud and I cannot forget it."
