"My first priority is to open a tailoring business and rent a shop at Pangani shopping center in Nairobi. I learned tailoring in my aunt's place and I will use the transfer to buy a sewing machine and materials to start my own business. Population in Pangani is high, providing a ready market for my business and I therefore hope to make a lot of profit in return. Secondly, I will use the transfer to support my sister's education. She will be joining secondary school next year. Lastly, I will use the transfer to buy food and pay rent in my house."

"I want to empower my wife to start a business of selling bread. Atleast when we both have an income, we will not lack rent or any neccesisties needed in the house. Secondly, I want to keep some livestock. I can start a chicken farm. I see great potential in business. there are alot of products I can get from it and be able to get good money. Lastly, I can pay house rent when I have difficulties. This will help me cater for other needs that may arise at home."

"I want to invest in education. I cleared high school last year, I want to pursue a course in catering. I want to learn some basic skills in cooking and baking. Thus will come in handy when I open my own hotel. I also want to prepare meals that are not common in Mathare. Secondly, I want to open a hotel business. This is where I will get my income, be able to assist my mother in boosting her business and even build a house for her back in the village. Lastly, I want to invest in my sisters' education. My mother has struggled so much in paying our school fees, and my sisters are constantly chased out of school. I want to be able to see that they study smoothly."

"When the GD staff enrolled me in the programme I didn't believe they could send me money as they promised because I believed 110000 KES is such a huge amount of money to be given for free. So one morning when I woke up and got a message indicating that I had received money from GiveDirectly I couldn't believe it. I felt so happy and thanked God because this was a miracle."

"My top concern is housing because not all the times i have work. Most of the time i brarely raise my rent by the end of the month and am forced to look for other job opportunities like wasging clothes for others, which is uncertain, in order to fill my rent cash. Failure of rent payment results to my house being lock which makes us homeless and back to begging thus being burdens to other people which is something i jonestly don't like."
